Review

Wow, this book was unexpected! And I absolutely loved it!

4.5 stars

Meghan March keep her blurbs really vague, and for the sake of enjoying this book the way the author wants, I’m not going to say much about it. I went in blind and loved the story’s twists and turns, and I would hate to ruin that for anybody else so I’m keeping my review vague as well.

It’s another strong heroine and another totally alpha hero, the series’ theme of a couple crossing socio-economic lifestyles and opposites attracting is continued beautifully and, in my opinion, in a more intense way than ever before. The chemistry between this couple is absolutely electric, and their connection is intense and all-consuming. I could feel everything that was developing between them, and I thought their differences were explored really well.

Their individual stories are interesting, and kept me invested, but when they’re together it’s absolutely magic.

“I’m fucking fascinated with you.”

There’s lots of feminine feistiness and alpha behaviour and protectiveness going on, but the chemistry is delicious and the sexy time is steaming. The relationship isn’t easy, there is a lot that they need to deal with individually and it does take a bit to accept what’s happening between them (I would have liked a bit more decisiveness from the heroine about this), but they are open with their feelings, honest with each other about what they want, and I love that.

But as much as they may want to be together, there are a whole lot of other factors that complicate things between them and which all combine to create a wonderful intensity. I honestly had no idea where the story was going and was desperately trying to figure out how it was all going to play out, and I was taken by surprise again and again, with the whole thing tied together so well.

If you want details… beware some spoilers…

Spoiler
The heroine is Valentina. Introduced previously in the series, I loved her as the heroine of her own story. Strong, brave, and a big-hearted sweetheart, she’s been through hell but she’s pulled herself out of it, and I was so excited to see her get her well-deserved happy ending.

Detective Hennessy is a great part of the story, and I love him! He’s been hovering in the series for a while now, and I loved this chance to get to know him. His story is wonderfully in-depth and I really enjoyed him.

Rix, the badass gang leader. I have no words. A definitely unexpected presence in the book, I thought he was tied in really well and I love the part he played. And his backstory is fantastic.

Yes, there’s a love triangle, but it works really well, and I’m stupidly excited for the book that brings us the story of the remaining character.

It’s exciting, it’s engaging, it’s sexy and romantic and emotional, and I loved the direction the story took and how it all came together.

A great read – 4.5 stars.
