Get the fan out because this book it HOT! Once Upon a Real Good Time promises just that and it did not disappoint. This book is all kinds of fun. From the wicked banter, filthy words, and freaking hot sexy times to the sweet nothings and swoony moments, this book not only turns up the heat, it brings on the laughs and feels.

Mackenzie is a graphic designer who has a thirteen-year-old son named Kyle. She is independent, confident, and successful but her sex life has fallen by the wayside as she spends her time as a working mom. Campbell, who once played alongside his two brothers in the well-known band called the Heartbreakers, left the rock star life to raise his daughter, Samantha. He is happier now leading a low profile life, teaching talented kids, and playing for fun.

When Campbell and Mackenzie catch each other’s eyes during one of Campbell’s sets, there is an instant spark. Soon they are “on a fast track for a decadent one-night stand, with this dizzying rush of going from flirting to nearly fucking in an hour,” and their night turns out to be a real good time. So good in fact that they want more but when Campbell turns out to be Mackenzie’s son’s new violin teacher things come to a screeching halt. However, the attraction doesn’t just disappear and the chemistry remains electric. It is obvious that it’s only a matter of time before they can’t keep their hands off of each other.

“Bend for me, Sunshine,” he whispers in my ear, while grinding his erection against me. “Bend for us so we can have each other again. We’ll just have rules.”

This story is a different take on a forbidden romance that works so well. What started as a purely physical attraction turns into so much more as Mackenzie and Campbell get to know each other and fall a little harder with every moment they spent time together.

It feels like I took a different turn down the road. Like we started with raw heat, and we sped through rough-and-fast land, and now we’ve veered someplace else entirely. We’re driving down a new road, and this one’s a little more dangerous, but it’s fantastic in its own way.
Because it’s closer.
It’s more intimate.
It’s a connection I didn’t expect but can’t deny.

Mackenzie and Campbell are functional, mature, and their feelings are realistic making them relatable and endearing. I saw them falling while still trying to be the best parents they could be and doing what they thought was best for Kyle and Samantha. I felt the beautiful love in their hearts and I saw it in everything they did for the kids.

They still gave into their wants and desires which made for a very sexy, very hot read. It’s also so funny at times that I couldn’t hep but laugh-out-loud while simultaneously warming my heart with all the sweet, mushy stuff.

I adored the secondary characters too. From the sweet kids to the hilarious best friends, I loved them all!! And I can’t wait for more of the Heartbreakers. Miller’s and Miles’ books are coming soon!

Overall, this wonderfully light-hearted, feel good read is sweet, swoony, and super steamy, and I couldn’t get enough!

Campbell

She nibbles on the corner of her lips. “My friend Roxy thinks I should—”

“—let yourself have a good time for one more night?”

“How did you know?”

“She seemed like a good wingwoman.” I reach for a strand of her hair, running my finger across the soft locks, cataloging her reaction. “Want to know what I’m thinking?”

She nods.

I flash her a wicked grin. “I’m wondering if you want to be kissed by someone who’s been wanting to kiss you all night long.”

A flash of hesitation crosses her face, then she raises her eyes as if she’s thinking.

“I do,” she whispers, and the few seconds of reticence make her answer even sweeter.

I thread a hand through her hair. I’m going to take my time working up to a kiss, to make sure she wants it desperately. “I’ve been thinking about running my hands through this hair.”

“You have nice fingers…”

“Were you watching my hands when I was on stage?”

Her voice is soft and feathery, a quiet little confession. “Yes. I like the way you play.”

“What did you like about it?” I curl my hand tighter around her head. I swear, heat is radiating off her body, and it’s so damn enticing. “Did it make you think of anything?”

She nibbles on the corner of her lips. “Made me thing about how you might play…me.”

A groan works its way up my chest. She is an alluring mix of daring lioness and clumsy puppy. I yank her flush to me, bringing her mouth mere inches away from mine. “I’d like to play your body like a guitar. I’d like to make you sing, make you cry out in pleasure.” I run both hands through her soft hair, tugging her head back.

She gasps, and that’s my cue to lick a path up her neck, where I nibble on her jaw till she’s squirming against me. “Did you think about how I might kiss you when you watched me play?”

A sexy little sigh seems to escape her lips, followed by a yes.

“I noticed you the other week. At your booth, doing your quiz. Couldn’t stop looking at you. You were so sexy and adorable, and now you’re so damn close to me all I want is to turn you on.”

She parts her lips, and there’s no more need to tell her what I want to do. It’s time to show her.
