“Adorably dysfunctional twenty-something seeks handsome veterinarian. Serious offers only.”
This story is fan-freaking-tastic! Entertaining from the first page to the last, it is full of humor that will make you laugh out loud, heart that will leave you giddy and swooning, and heat that will get you hot and bothered.
If you’ve read Anything You Can Do then you’ve met Madeleine. She is the sister of the hero (Lucus) and best friend of the heroine (Daisy), and I was so excited when I found out she had her own book. Madeleine is hilarious. She’s smart, sexy, and kind. She loves what she does but hasn’t been able to really make it as a realtor. She is also cute, awkward, and clumsy. I related to her immediately and loved getting into her head.
Adam is the crazy hot vet in town who is possibly looking for a house. Madeleine wants to jump on the opportunity to sell him a home just as much as she wants to jump him, the spark between them wild. However, Adam isn’t in the market for a girlfriend and he is determined to keep his lust for Madeleine under control. She gets under his skin though and I loved that he couldn’t stay away from her for long.
Madeleine and Adam are fun together. I love the witty banter and playfulness between them. At times it’s awkward and embarrassing but it is so freaking good. The way they meet is hilarious and even though they don’t exactly hit it off right away you can tell that the building attraction is going to hit explosive highs.
They affect each other like no one before and it is way too hard for them to deny their feelings. The sexual tension is palpable and when they give into the attraction they are hot hot hot!
I loved the progression of their relationship and watching them fall in love but the past has a way of sneaking up on you. There’s a little bit of ex drama that complicates things but it’s not overly angsty or drawn out too long. I loved the ending and couldn’t keep the smile off my face with how things worked out.
*Note: I listened to the audiobook and loved it! The narrators did an amazing job bringing the characters to life and expressing the emotions they experienced. I felt like I knew them personally by the end of the book. I definitely recommend the audiobook.
