A follow up to the breathtaking It Ends With Us, this book shows us the happy ending that was hinted at in those final pages (beware if you haven’t read It Ends With Us, this review will be a bit spoilery). Picking up moments after the last book finished, we catch up with Lily as she is adjusting to life as a divorced single mother, and embracing the return of her childhood love into her life.

Reading like an extended epilogue, there’s not a lot of new story here, but if you’re a fan of the first book, you will probably love the chance to see Lily and Atlas rekindle their love and find their way back to each other and create the life they once dreamed of. There are the expected dramas with Lily’s ex, and it’s a difficult situation for them to navigate, but they want to make it work, they are honest with each other, and realistic in their expectations as they face their challenges.

“Thank you for being the most comforting part of my life right now. Thank you for always being the beacon I need every time I feel lost. Whether you mean to shine on me or not. I am grateful for you. I’ve missed you. “

I enjoyed being back with these characters and watching them move forward after all they’ve been through. Lily’s strength continues to inspire, her friends are wonderfully supportive, and Atlas is just a dream. There is a secondary storyline with Atlas and his family which brings a lot of heart to the story, and I loved his POV and seeing a bit of his story, family background and development for him.

While this book doesn’t pack the emotional punch of the first book, it’s still a gorgeous read, and I loved seeing these characters get their long-awaited happy ending.

The audiobook is narrated by Colin Donnell and Olivia Song, and they do a great job with the story, I definitely recommend listening to this one!
