Review
“Fate brought us together, and nothing is more powerful than our connection, not even death.”
3.5 stars
The follow up to The Dark Fae’s Bargain, this book continues Ellister and Hannah’s heartwrenching story with a swoony, sexy, romantic read as two people fight the universe itself for their happy ending.
(Beware that this review contains spoilers for the first book in the duet.)
In the first book, we watched our tormented fae hero, Ellister, fall in love with terminally ill human, Hannah. A future between them looked impossible, but we very quickly learn never to underestimate a desperate fae male searching for a way to save his mate.
In a time and universe-bending series of events, we see their desperate search for a safe place, taking us from the human realm to the fae land of Valora, and through time itself to find a way to be together.
We can belong everywhere and nowhere as long as we’re together.
Home isn’t a place anymore. It’s a person.
It’s exciting and fast-paced, and feels quite different from the slower start to their story in the first book. This book is not as emotional as the first, but it still brings the feels as Ellister and Hannah finally get a chance to embrace all that they are feeling and just be together. They are figuring out what their future looks like one moment at a time, and all the while, they are finally exploring all of that mad chemistry between them, and the sexy time is intense! And the swoon is beautiful as they hold nothing back from each other, looking to their HEA and fighting like hell to get there.
There is some action and intrigue along the way, and quite a bit of supernatural badassery. And though there are still some sad moments, it’s a clever and satisfying finish for our two lovers who do finally find a way to get their happy ending.
I really enjoyed this one. Ellister and Hannah’s story was interesting and kept me captivated while I read, and I enjoyed losing myself in Schlosser’s fantasy world.
3.5 stars!
