3 stars!

Savannah is newly out of an interoffice romance and the guy she was with just won’t back off. She knows it’s over but he is holding out that she will forgive him for his terrible lapse in judgement.  Then, she is sent to work on a business deal in Seattle and already she is annoyed she has to go there in person but she is even more so when she learns her cousin, Penny, is working for the company she has to deal with. Penny and Savannah are not on good terms and haven’t been since they we’re teenagers. The only positive about this trip is the space it will put between her and her ex.

Then she meets Keenan who draws her in like no one before.  She has been warned against this mysterious silent man but she can’t help the pull she feels to him. It only complicates things more when she learns he not only works with Penny but also that they have a very close relationship. Keenan seems to be drawn to Savannah as well and what follows is a roller coaster of emotion and a complicated relationship.  As Savannah and Keenan become closer, the more risk they take, and if Penny finds out, she has the ability the screw everything up.

There were a lot of back and forth in this book from the beginning. Just when you think things are  going to work out between Keenan and Savannah, something messes everything up. Then it starts all over with different obstacles ruining what could be a beautiful love story based on secrets and lies.

It had to be a lie. He was playing her. Again. But he played her so well. He played her with such sweet proficiency that she anticipated another betrayal and still wanted to go along for the ride anyway.

Eventually there is a huge blowout and you are left wondering how the trust can ever be reestablished.

Inarticulate is the first book I have read by Eden Summers. It has an interesting storyline and is full of secrets and twists that kept me turning the pages.  Even though one of the characters did not talk, there was still  communication with glances and touching.  I liked that Savannah could tell what Keenan was feeling by the look in his eye and the smiles, smirks, or frowns on his face.

I hate to say that I didn’t love Savannah in the beginning. I did however like her more  as the book went on.  I loved how hardworking and determined she was to get the best outcome for the staff during the business deal.  She opened herself up and was there for them when they needed her.  She had a big heart and trusted Keenan even when she knew he was hiding something. She was able to see past Keenan’s rough exterior, break down his walls, and see the real him.

My biggest issue with Savannah was the fact that I didn’t love the way she acted when she met Keenan and that she wasn’t concerned about the feelings Penny had for him. The falling out between Savannah and Penny was over a kiss between Savannah and a boy who Penny was interested in.  Savannah thinks Penny should get over it because they were kids when it happened. But then as an adult she is basically doing the exact same thing. It was frustrating to read. She changed as the story unfolded and I did like her more as the book progressed.

Keenan also grew on me more as the story went on. Some of his actions in the beginning made him come across as an asshole and it’s not until the end you can kind of understand why he acted the way he did. Even though Keenan is silent, the author does a great job at incorporating his voice into the story and we get to see his side of things.  The way it is laid out leaves us guessing how things went down and kept me interested. I knew Keenan was keeping a huge secret and though I did guess some of it, I definitely did not guess the whole secret and I liked how it all was revealed.

Overall, I did enjoy this book and found it hard to put down.
