5 stars!
Wow, what a ride! The third and final book in The Royals trilogy is a wonderfully intense, romantic, dramatic read that had me glued to my kindle from the very first page. I could put it down, and I loved every twisty moment of it!
Following yet another jaw-dropping cliffhanger from the last book, all hell has broken loose in the Royal household, and the family will have to stand together and be stronger than ever to get through the shitstorm that has descended.
“I’m a Royal, baby. I don’t run. I fight.”
Ella’s world has been ripped out from underneath her once again, and Reed’s temper and need for violence has caught up with him and may prove to be his downfall. And as our two young lovers cling to each other to get them through the drama, external influences are threatening to keep them apart as they face their biggest challenges yet.
I can’t say much more about the story without spoiling the previous books in the series, but let me tell you that this book gave me everything that I wanted! With twists, turns and surprises, this book is a fantastic mix of swoony romance, teen angst and intense drama. It all combines to create a wonderfully intense read that had me glued to my kindle, desperate to see how it was all going to turn out.
The highlight of this book for me though was seeing the strength of Ella and Reed. Individually they are going through so much, and they face it with bravery, intelligence, and strength. And together, they are a powerhouse. Finally in a place where they are comfortable, happy, together and in love, their love and commitment to each other absolutely shines through this book, and I loved seeing them fighting for their future together.
I’m not scared anymore, and I did find someone who sees me. Who really, truly sees me. And I see her, too. Ella Harper is all I’m ever going to so see, because she’s my future. She’s my steel and my fire and my salvation.
She’s everything.
The romance is beautiful, and there’s quite a bit of steamy time in this one, so while it’s a YA-aged book, it’s definitely mature YA.
And as for the rest of the Royal boys, all I can say is…. I NEED MORE! There are hints at future stories for each of them, and God, I want that so badly! Easton and Gideon in particular have wonderful set ups, and I would be all over those books if they are ever written. Erin Watt does hint that there will be more coming our way, so my fingers are crossed.
I loved this book. It finishes off the trilogy beautifully, leaving the characters in a good place, but still open to further stories. The series as a whole completely captivated me, and I thoroughly recommend this to anybody looking for a smart, intense, dramatic, angsty, romantic (mature) YA read.
5 stars.
