4.5 “well played” stars

In Grin and Beard It we get to know Jethro, the oldest Winston brother. He had a hard upbringing and got into some trouble when he was younger. Since changing his lifestyle, he vows to be better. Sienna Diaz is a famous movie star and screenwriter and she has wanted a break from her busy life for so long that she would do about anything to get some alone time away from her fans and obligations as a celebrity. She takes the opportunity to drive herself to the next filming location only to become turned around and lost in the middle of nowhere.

Jethro comes across Sienna when she is parked along the road, lost. Sienna learns very quickly that he is a southern gentleman, sweet, and honest. He is strong, gorgeous and a unique man. I can completely understand what Sienna saw in him. He also does not know who she is which is surprising and refreshing. He catches her eye just as she catches his, but she has a history of dating hot guys who end up being jerks so she’s not looking to date; she also doesn’t have the time for a boyfriend.

Though Jethro is interested in Sienna and vice versa, the relationship is slow burning. They form a friendship first that is fun and a great foundation to what could be a wonderful romance. But Sienna loves that he just sees her and not her celebrity status so she keeps a big secret from him. Once he finds out who she is everything starts to change, and Jethro’s past may hurt any chance at a relationship. People are also against them because of their different lifestyles making everything even more difficult. Is it possible for them to overcome the obstacles blocking the way to a real relationship?

I loved Grin and Beard It! I loved the characters, the story, the setting, and the side characters. Basically I loved everything about this book. Jethro and Siena were fantastic characters both together and individually. I loved the connection that Jethro and Sienna felt. They are comfortable with each other from the beginning and I love how they took the time to get to know each other. They were open about their concerns but put faith in one another.

Together and with each other, we didn’t need to be our labels.
We were free to just be ourselves.

Their flirty banter was so entertaining and the chemistry was hot. I also loved that there was no unnecessary drama for the sake of drama. Both Jethro and Sienna stole my heart and made me believe in their love.

Jethro. *sigh* What a fantastic character. I loved everything about him. His loyalty, kindness, heart, and sweet, sexy nature made me swoon.  He cared so deeply for Sienna and wanted what was best for her. Once he fell for Sienna, he fell hard!

She’d stolen my breath, robbed me of thought and sense. She as a master thief, and I loved her for it.

I loved that Jethro was levelheaded, honest, and straightforward from the beginning and he knew what he wanted. He knew who he was as a person and wouldn’t let the past define him. Jethro owned his past actions and was willing to do anything to get back into his family’s good graces. He was committed to earning their forgiveness and knew it would take time.

I loved Sienna. She was a fun, confident, smart, clever woman who was beautiful inside and out. Sienna had a great personality and was instantly likable. Her internal thoughts throughout the book were cracking me up. She wasn’t a pushover, knew what she wanted, and was willing to go after it. It’s not easy in her business to follow your heart without it affecting things around you and I loved that she went all in when it came to Jethro.

As always, side characters played a big part in their lives and they were great. I love the Winston boys and the loyalty they had for Jethro.  They were protective of him and I loved that they were trustworthy. Sienna’s mother was wonderful and though her sister, Marta, bugged me for most of the book, by the end she redeemed herself.

Overall, Grin and Beard it is an enjoyable book that left me with a smile on my face and a warm heart. I loved it and totally recommend the Winston Brothers series!

“I’ll never regret a second of being with you. Being with you is where I belong.”

On a side note, I listened to it on audible and it was FANTASTIC! I completely recommend it! The narrators are wonderful!
