“You wanna get dirty in NOLA, cupcake?”

With Bishop? Yes please!

4 stars!

Meghan March writes wonderfully alpha heroes, and she’s done it again with the gruff and broody, bearded, man-bunned, tattooed sex god that is Bishop. He works in Voodoo Ink, the tattoo studio owned by Con, but hasn’t really been a major player in the series so far so this book can be read as a standalone – but note that you’ll be missing some context with the other couples of the series that feature as side characters.

Eden is the illegitimate daughter of the most notorious crime boss in NYC. She has lived a sheltered life in the protective bubble that her father and hired bodyguards keep her in, and dreams of experiencing real life. Her opportunity arises when her father winds up a target of the FBI and she is told to disappear for a while. Seeing it as the chance to stretch her wings and have some fun for the first time in her life, she travels to New Orleans, ending up in the middle of Mardis Gras and a city that is alive with life, excitement, and everything that she has been searching for.

When inexperienced Eden runs into trouble, it is Bishop that comes to her rescue, and though they are attracted to each other, Bishop isn’t one for relationships. He is running from something in his past, something that sees him live a transient life without making deep connections with anybody. But time and time they are thrust together as Bishop is there for her and Eden finds herself becoming a part of his world. And with each encounter, their attraction to each other grows.

Protect. Defend. Claim. I hadn’t felt that fucking primal in years— and I needed to lock that shit down.

I really enjoyed the development of Bishop and Eden’s relationship. They are opposites in every way, but they just work. The chemistry is evident from the beginning and the steamy glances, meaningful touches and teasing flirting builds the sexual tension beautifully! And the gruff, worldly alpha finds himself unable to resist the inexperienced good girl as he watches her spread her wings and soak up everything that life has to offer. And as Eden revels in her new freedom, ticking items off her list with Bishop by her side, it’s him that she wants the most.

I didn’t feel inexperienced with Bishop; I felt amazing. Desired. Wanton. It was fabulous.

Meghan March writes deliciously steamy scenes, and this book is no exception. Bishop is sexy as all hell and a dirty talker and the sex is hot, explicit, and a little bit dirty. And Eden is all too willing to experience everything he has to offer her.

“The orgasm hit me so hard and so fast, I couldn’t keep my eyes open. Stroke after stroke, I writhed beneath him and begged him not to stop. It was a revelation. It was everything.”

But just as the two lovers finally find something that makes them want permanence for the first time in their lives, Eden’s life and the secrets of Bishop’s past come back to haunt them, bringing danger and creating an exciting and suspenseful climax that had me desperate to see how it was all going to work out.

I loved this story. Bishop and Eden were both wonderful characters. They haven’t had the easiest of lives but they found something amazing together, and they wonderfully matched – Eden finding a man to love and protect her while encouraging her to live the life she wants, at the same time bringing light and happiness to Bishop, who has had little of both. Their romance is sweet, super sexy and emotionally intense, and with the rest of the cast a part of the action, all set against a vibrant and exciting city, this is a fantastically written story that kept me captivated from start to finish.

I loved it – 4 stars.
