“The world will be saved and remade by the dreamers.”
OHMYGOD, THAT WAS FREAKING EPIC!!!
I can say practically nothing without spoiling the story so far, but just read this series. Seriously. READ IT!
This series belongs to Aelin Galathynius, and she continues to rock it as a strong, brave, feisty, yet vulnerable, heroine, but this book contains multiple storylines as we follow different characters through different journeys, and each one of them held me absolutely entranced!
The way Maas reveals her story, with all of its glorious plot twists, is absolute genius! She holds your heart in her hands while you read, and then yanks, twists and pulls it into a completely different direction. Shock after shock had me on the edge of my seat with the almost unending action keeping me glued to the book.
And the feels! OMG, this book packs an emotional punch! I had tears streaming down my face more than once at all that the characters endure, and some parts I had to read while curled up in a fetal position and with my hand over my mouth to contain my shock and horror. But then other parts of the book had me laughing, and others had me swooning. And then there’s the romance – wow, the romance is stepped up in this book, and it is so beautifull!
“I love you. There is no limit to what I can give to you, no time I need. Even when this world is a forgotten whisper of dust between the stars, I will love you.”
*dreamy sigh*
And yes, we finally have consummation, and holy hell, it was a surprise! I thought this was a YA book – apparently not! Hot, steamy, passionate and so, so meaningful, it was absolutely perfect – and followed up additional scenes that push this book firmly into the NA category.
And with Aelin standing strong with the love of her life by her side, I love that we get to see some development for the other characters in the story, as well as some more romance – some expected, some surprising, all fantastic, unique and wonderfully written.
“I will always find you … I promise.”
And that ending! OMG! The different plotlines all build upon each other until all of the threads come together (in a way that is pure genius), leading to a breathtaking finale. Twist after twist, excitement, heartache, devastation, and a desperate hope. I’m left hanging wondering how it’s all going to work out and cannot wait to get my hands on what is sure to be an explosive finale to this epic, epic series.
“Aelin Galathynius, Queen of Terrasen, knew the time would soon come to prove just how much she’d bleed for Erilea.”
Absolutely outstanding! 5 stars.
Note – If you haven’t read the prequel novellas contained in The Assassin’s Blade, I would recommend doing so before reading this book as there is a lot of background that occurs in this book that will be good to have going in to this one.
