Back with the wickedly sexy, dirty and debauched O’Kane Gang. And oh, my… DAMN!

A warning before you even consider reading this series – these books are freaking smutty! And it’s not just your everyday erotica, it’s dirty and explicit with a bit of kink, yet still passionate and sensual, and it forms a hugely important part of this dystopian world. The uptight citizens of Eden live a bland and controlled existence, while the ‘outcasts’ in the Sectors – particularly the O’Kanes of Sector Four – live their lives wild and free and however the fuck they want. They live a dangerous life in a politically charged and violent setting, so they take their pleasures where they can, and they revel in it! And one by one we are watching the O’Kane’s fall in love, and this time it’s Bren and Six’s turn.

Bren is the quiet, controlled, strong and protective member of the O’Kane Gang. Raised to be an Eden soldier, he was set up by a crooked superior and then expelled into the districts where he lived a hard live before eventually being recruited by the O’Kane gang. A steady and dependable member of the group, his gentle and protective side came out in the last book when Six came onto the scene.

In the last book, Six was rescued from the disaster that was Sector Three after their sadistic leader was taken out by the O’Kanes. Horribly abused, she is broken but she is a survivor, and as incomprehensible as she finds it, she has been welcomed by the O’Kane Gang, even though she struggles to overcome her fighting instincts and trust those around her.

“You’re not a guest.” He watched her intently. “This is your home.”
Home. Longing hollowed out her chest, a craving for a concept she could barely fathom, because it started with safety. “I don’t know if I’ve ever had a home before.”

Bren and Six have shared a bit of a bond from the beginning, with Bren being all protective over her, and Six feeling drawn to Bren as a bit of a safe harbour in the midst of the shockingly depraved lifestyle of the O’Kanes. When Bren is sent into Sector Three to start sorting out the remnants that have been left behind, he takes Six with him and it provides the opportunity for the two of them to work closely together, and it’s the spark that they need to ignite the raging attraction between them.

He held her gaze, his eyes locked with hers. “I’m going to do this again,” he rasped. “Lay you out where there isn’t any damn part of you I can’t taste. That’s what I want. You.”

Bren is incredible with Six! He is rough and hardened but still incredibly sensual, and he recognises that Six’s past has left its scars on her and he shows that he can be gentle and infinitely patient.

“Your safe place … Right here, with me.”

The development of things between them is gorgeous. It’s intense, but is paced to allow them both time to adjust to the newness of it all and find their way forward together. Of course there’s lots of sexy time and they get down and dirty, but still, there’s a sweetness to it which is really heartfelt.

Fucking was comprehensible. Fucking was neat and fast and clean, even when it was messy. This was something else.
Seduction.

There’s a really strong focus on the relationship between Bren and Six, which I absolutely loved! And the action that’s taking place in Sector Three ties in really nicely with their story and contributes to the two of them learning how to be together, how to trust someone, love someone, and how to accept the same from somebody else.

“Relax,” Bren whispered. “Trust me to give it to you.”

Yep, the man is pretty much perfect! But let’s not forget about Six! The woman has been through hell but she still has a spark and wants to earn her place with the O’Kanes. Bren is all kinds of amazing with her – supportive and encouraging, he gives her exactly what she needs – but she’s also confident enough to give back to him as good as she gets, and I love that she had a strong desire to be what she could for him as well.

“I’m never going to be a submissive person. But if what you wanna do is be in charge of getting me off a million times a night, I’m not about to argue.”
His hand drifted down between her shoulder blades, strong and unyielding. “You won’t just let me, will you? You’ll love every second of it.”
“Probably … But I want more. I want to be what you need, too. All of it.”

Oh holy God, the sex is scorching! Hot, explicit, and sordid, and plenty of it.

Fucking. It doesn’t start when you get naked, not the way I do it.

The O’Kane’s are a wickedly erotic bunch, and pretty much anything can and does go – frequently! Anything, anyone, anywhere, anytime, it’s all happening! Including a jaw dropping scene featuring the boss himself, Dallas freaking O’Kane, that had me blushing furiously!

And things are heating up for Rachel, Ace and Cruz, and OMG, I’m excited to see that one work itself out! I freaking love Ace! Have from the moment I met him. The banter, the sarcasm, and the sexy, the man is awesome!

“We’re hot, we’re shallow, and everyone wants to fuck us because we know all the best tricks.”

I loved this book! I must confess it’s been a while since I read the last book in the series, so I did find myself a little bit lost at the beginning as I had forgotten a lot of the details of the politics and the character dynamics. But I was soon sucked into life in Sector Four, and loved watching the story unfold – the strength of the O’Kanes together, Bren and Six individually finding what they are searching for, and the sensational romance all tie together beautifully. I am eager to get my grabby little hands on more.

4 stars.
