This is a gorgeous little read! It’s a best friends-to-lovers story, but told with JLA’s usual humour and style, it has that little extra ‘something’. With relatable and likeable characters, witty dialogue and lots of heart, I was hooked from the start!

Best friends since childhood, Sydney and Kyler have grown up together, and are now seniors in College. In the not-unfamiliar set up, Kyler is a gorgeous man-whore with a heart of gold who thinks that Sydney is too good for him, and Sydney is a good girl who is somewhat uptight, innocent, and desperately in love with him. While Sydney is fully aware of her feelings, Kyler refuses to feel anything more than friendship towards her.

“You could put my ass in brand new sneakers, designer jeans, and a new car, and I still was the same white trash boy from the trailer park who couldn’t believe the pretty little girl in class wanted to be friends.

“Sydney Bell had always been, and would always be, a few pedestals too high for me.”

Heading away for Winter Break, Sydney and Kyler end up getting snowed in – all alone – for a few days, and that’s when the UST cranks up the frustration levels. And I loved it! Their relationship has a fair amount of flirty teasing on Kyler’s part, but being locked in a house together, and with Sydney’s feelings about to bubble over, the anticipation is sensational.

“Please tell me that I undressed myself last night.”
A half-smile formed. “Is that what you want to hear?”

I loved the way this part of the book played out. With the two of them locked away together, there is very little interference from other plot lines, and it’s all concentrated time with just the two of them, which, to be honest, is exactly what we want when reading a romance! There is a bit of a mystery running through the story, with the two of them seemingly the target of a dangerous troublemaker, but it’s tied in nicely with what is happening between Sydney and Kyler.

And what is happening between Sydney and Kyler? Well, all sorts of awesome! There’s a lot of to-ing and fro-ing, drunken happenings, misunderstandings, angry outbursts, tearful confessions, and hotness… oh yes, there is hotness! And also a whole heap of emotion! Sydney’s feelings are right out there from the very beginning, but Kyler’s come out a lot slower, and I loved getting to the bottom of what he was thinking.

Spoiler

“Even though quick hook-ups were all I’d ever been capable of, I would’ve given her more if she had wanted that.
I would’ve given her everything if she had asked.
It would probably never be enough, and I knew I couldn’t undo everything I had done in my past … but damn, if she had asked, I would’ve told her that my feelings for her ran deep.”

“Yeah, she had me. I was all hers.
In reality, even though I’d been with everyone else, I’d always been Syd’s.”

Sydney and Kyler are fantastic characters, and I love the way they come together. Told in dual POV, we get to see everything that’s going on, and it was real, and emotional, and you could feel the attraction between them. Despite his sluttiness, Kyler obviously cares for Sydney, and he is gorgeously protective of her, and when his gentle and romantic side comes out… prepare to start fanning yourself before swooning into a puddle on the floor!

Spoiler

“I’ve loved you my entire life,” he said, eyes locked on mine. “And I would love you for the rest of my life if you’d let me, Syd.”

O.M.G!!

There are hints at a follow up story featuring Sydney and Kyler’s best friends, Andrea and Tanner. There is definitely something happening between them, and hints at traumatic pasts for both of them. Again, I loved these characters and, of course, they are freaking hilarious!

“What about the presents?”
“Yeah, I don’t think that’s what Christmas is about,” he commented.
Andrea huffed. “That is what Christmas is about. Anyone who says differently is trying to make themselves look all spiritual and shit. I keep it real.”

I highly recommend this to anybody who is after a light and easy romantic read with great characters, witty dialogue, some sexy time, very little angst, no cliffhanger, and a gorgeous HEA.

I loved it! 4 stars.
