“I don’t want a beautiful week with you. I want a beautiful lifetime.”
The final instalment of the Elements of Chemistry series, this is a fantastic finish for Kaitlyn and Martin’s story.
After being left hanging, yet again, at the end of the last book, it’s now nine months later, and Kaitlyn and Martin are both in very different places from where we left them. They haven’t seen or spoken to each other in all of that time, but a surprising reunion leads to them attempting to become ‘friends’, a situation which is complicated when Kaitlyn ends up staying with Martin for a week, and it becomes very clear that their feelings for each other are way more than friendship.
Yes, it’s frustrating (seriously, for two incredibly intelligent people, how dense can they be?), but the build-up is sensational, and I love the way it all played out – a little bit angsty, and sizzling with sexual tension. Every little moment between them is brimming with UST, and every thing they say is more meaningful than how it sounds, and you’re just waiting for something to happen. It takes a while, but it was worth it and I was cheering loudly when we finally got resolution!
There is great closure for both Kaitlyn and Martin, both personally and together, and I loved that we get to see that. These are great characters who found something very special together, and I love how they have each had such a huge impact on each other’s lives. They’ve both gone through some big changes, most of which have been triggered by each other and their time together, but underneath it all they are the same people, and I love the laughs, the banter, the friendship, the way they reflect back on their relationship, and the way that they are still so desperately in love with each other even after all that they’ve been through.
I have really enjoyed these books. Smart, funny, angsty, sexy and romantic, this story is the complete package, and I can’t wait for Penny to expand on the series.
I loved it – 4 stars.
