4.5 stars!
Lawless is the third book in the King series written by T.M. Frazier. It is a dark, gritty, raw, emotional read featuring Bear and Thia. After meeting Bear in King’s story, I knew I had to get my hands on this book.
Being the son of the Beach Bastards Motorcycle Club’s president, Bear grew up living the biker lifestyle and its all he’s ever known. The MC was his life and he was groomed to eventually take over. He lived and breathed it.
Duty came before my conscience, before family, before everything.
I didn’t choose the life, it chose me.
However, one decision had him laying down his cut and veering off his expected path. Bear hit rock bottom. Drowning in alcohol, drugs, and girls, he doesn’t know which way is up and he couldn’t care less. He is happy in his misery and has pushed all of his friends away.
Thia is strong, independent, beautiful, and only eighteen. She is hard working, smart, and has had to deal with a lot at such a young age. After a tragedy occurred when she was young, Thia found herself picking up the peices and trying to repair her family. She works for the family business and tries to attend as much school as possible, while also holding down a part-time job.
Bear and Thia first meet when she is ten years old. She is left looking after a convenience store which isn’t usually a problem since it’s always dead during that time of the day. However, that is not the case on this particular day. Thia gets an unwelcome guest and Bear comes in to fix the situation. He gives Thia his MC ring along with a lie in exchange for her keeping her mouth shut. Little did he know that lie would come back to bite him in the ass and flip his world upside down.
Seven years later Thia finds herself in a situation. Remembering Bear from years ago, she decides to find him and make good on his promise. Thus begins the shitstorm that is created all from a small little lie.
In the beginning Bear is an ass to Thia. His heart is hardened and he is not the man she remembers.
I don’t know who the man sitting in front of me was because there was none of the charm and carefreeness that practically dripped off of the Bear from seven years ago. This man was like a vacant version of his younger self.
He doesn’t want to have to deal with her problems and would rather just drown in his own. He wants to take care of things quickly and be on his way. But slowly they open up to each other and we start to see glimpses of a possible relationship. The chemistry between Bear and Thia is off the charts and it’s only time before things between them explode.
“This shit between us? I got no clue what it is, but it’s something. That’s why I gave you my ring back. You know it too, and that’s why you didn’t hesitate to put it back on.”
Bear and Thia fall hard, they love fiercely and passionately. Bear completely owns Thia’s heart.
“Newsflash: I’ve loved you since I first say you when I was just a kid and I will love you until I’m a hundred years old and even after they bury me in the ground.”
However, they only have a short time together before shit hits the fan and Bear’s past and Thia’s situation catches up to them.
The choice I had to make was an easy one.
It would also be an ending to something that hadn’t yet had a chance to begin.
It ends with a cliffy that by itself has me reaching for the next book! But OMG that excerpt from Soulless?! My grabby hands need it now! My heart is already beating fast just thinking about what could happen next!
Of course I have to mention that I loved seeing King and Ray again and I love Preppy!! We get him just when we need him.
Fantastic!
