5 stars!!

Three words.

Mind blown.

SQUEE!! This novella is perfect! I loved it and the way it made me feel. Don’t let the fact that it’s a novella make you think that there isn’t much to this story. It is the beginning to everything, full of depth and a brilliant set up for the romance between Fiona and Greg. The feels, the fun, the heart – it is wonderful and packs a huge punch.

When given the opportunity to go to college, Fiona chooses one that is far away from her parents. She wants to start new and go somewhere she can be someone else, someone different than she is now. Her childhood is far from normal and she is not exactly socially savvy but that doesn’t scare her and she reaches for something more.

Greg Archer is a British hottie who is older than Fiona and attends the same college. He has noticed her from afar but her hermit ways kept him from approaching her until she started branch out. Fiona is shy and a people watcher but when a friend pushes her out of her comfort zone, everything changes. She loves to observe things around her but now she wants to experience things fully.  She starts meeting people and leaves an impression along the way, especially on Greg.

I absolutely, positively LOVED this book! It was full of emotion and I felt it all. I loved reading the beginning of Fiona and Greg’s story and I was fully invested in them from the start.

Fiona is fantastic. She’s bold, beautiful, independent, and smart. She is a relatable and believable character who I instantly liked. She is a smart woman who can hold intelligent conversations, even at eighteen, and prove her point. She is just finding herself though and it is gorgeous watching her come out of her shell when she is with Greg. Her feelings for him run deep and it’s wonderful to see her take a chance.

Greg is amazing. His bluntness somehow works well with his character and his honesty is refreshing. Something about him draws Fiona in and it isn’t just his good looks. He is so sweet that he continuously put a smile on my face. He has a big heart and is patient and gentle with Fiona, understanding her completely. His total commitment made me swoon and I could feel the adoring love he has for her.

Fiona and Greg are great together. They are not your typical couple but it works for them. I loved how Fiona starts to open up when she was with Greg. I enjoyed watching them get to know each other and form a lasting friendship first. There is sexual tension that sizzles between them but the slow-burn romance was so sweet and swoony. It’s full of feels and sets the foundation for a solid relationship based on mutual respect, love, trust, and honesty. They challenge, push, and support each other and are strong enough to stand up for what they want.

“Life isn’t a fifty-fifty split, that’s just being lazy. Burdens are weightless, worlds change, and love endures when both people are contributing their maximum.”

The banter, fun and sweet, is light-hearted even when they are debating serious subjects. They have a beautiful connection and the passion they share for each other is everything and more.

Overall, this story is the perfect set up for Fiona and Greg’s HEA and I am now even more excited to read their full length novel, Happily Ever Ninja.

“I’m not good enough for you, Fe. But…no one else is either. So I might as well take you for my own.”

Note: I listened to the audio version and it was fantastic. I highly recommend it to audible lovers everywhere.
