From Wall Street Journal bestselling author Ilsa Madden-Mills and international bestselling author Tia Louise…
The first rule of office romance is don’t do it—especially if your dream is to hold the anchor spot on the nightly news and your boss is trying to get you fired.
But one look at Cade Hill, the sexy new sports director, and uptight reporter Rebecca Fieldstone is daydreaming about other things.
Sex in his office…
Sex in the on-set kitchen…
Sex in the supply closet…
She can’t stop thinking about the former NFL quarterback and how perfect he’d look between her sheets—except he’s an arrogant jerk with a huge…ego.
He’s the last guy she’d ever have a one-night stand with.
Cade Hill draws a thick professional line on office romance—until it comes to the hyper-focused Rebecca. He wants her, and he gets his wish when a chance encounter has them having the hottest sex of their lives.
It’s just a hook-up, she says.
When can we do it again? he says.
With Rebecca determined to keep Cade in the friend zone, it’s going to be an uphill battle for Cade to convince her he’s the last guy she’ll ever want.
THE LAST GUY is the first white-hot CONTEMPORARY ROMANTIC COMEDY from Wall Street Journal bestselling author Ilsa Madden-Mills and Tia Louise. 4 stars!
If you are in the mood for a sweet, sexy, office romance, look no further – The Last Guy by Ilsa Madden-Mills and Tia Louise is just what you need. It’s an entertaining, light-hearted read that is sure to put a smile on your face.
Rebecca Fieldstone is a reporter for KHOT News in Houston and has been working towards the weekend anchor position when things start to go wrong at work. Though she is hardworking and good at her job, it seems she needs to convince her boss that she is the best candidate.
Cade Hill is the new sports director for the new channel Rebecca works for. He’s the ex-NFL quarterback for the Atlanta Falcons and didn’t have to work hard for his anchor position at the news station. From the first day, Cade has rubbed Rebecca the wrong way and though she can’t deny the immediate attraction and chemistry they share, she tries to stay away from him. However, it only takes a night with too many fireball shots to change everything between them.
I really enjoyed The Last Guy. It’s a sweet, swoony, and steamy rom com with a perfect mix of humor and heart. I enjoyed the storyline and I really liked the characters. Rebecca was fun, flirty, and sweet. I loved her work ethic and the fact that she gives her all and doesn’t give up. She is a genuinely nice person who wants to be an anchor so she can share important news and has a desire to make a difference in people’s lives.
Cade was delicious. You may think is just a cocky sports player but he is so much more. Not only was he gorgeous on the outside, he is gorgeous on the inside. He has a huge heart and I loved seeing his passion for helping others and using his fame for good. I also enjoyed getting into his head and hearing everything that fluttered through is mind.
Both Cade and Rebecca have been hurt in the past and neither are looking for something more. The fact that they get on each other’s nerves only seems to heighten the sexual tension and attraction surrounding them. First impressions couldn’t be more wrong and when a wild night out has them dropping their guard, they quickly learn what they have been missing. They are on fire together and Cade’s dirty mouth brings out a naughty side to Rebecca, heating up the pages.
They don’t know exactly what is going on between them and I loved that, though they don’t immediately jump into a relationship, there is no denying the attraction they feel. It’s written well and even though there were some questionable decisions, what could have been stupid reactions took a different turn and I loved the way they come together. They don’t hide their feelings from each other and when they go all-in, it’s awesome.
The secondary characters were fantastic and added a whole other element to the story. They are hilarious and entertaining, but mostly I love the significance of strong friendships and unconditional support and love.
Overall, this was an entertaining read and I hope that Ilsa and Tia write together again soon.
