4 stars!

This is the third book in The Dark In You series, and a continuation of Knox and Harper’s story. Definitely not a standalone, this series is a continuous storyline featuring the uber-powerful demon prime couple of Las Vegas, and like the earlier books it is funny, dark and sexy with a fantastic romance and a well-developed paranormal world. There’s a bit of a rehash of events from the previous books, which I really appreciated, because there were some details that I had forgotten, and I loved getting thrown right back into this world for another fun, exciting read. I loved it!

This book is not as action-packed as the earlier books in the series, but I didn’t mind the change in pace. There is a dangerous threat targeting Harper, but is it coming from mysterious bad guys ‘The Horsemen’, who are out to bring down the demonic political hierarchy, or is it a new threat? Knox and Harper don’t realise that they are on a countdown, and when time runs out, they’ll have to dig deep in order to survive this one.

OMG, I need to declare love for Knox and Harper. They are developing into a powerhouse couple of paranormal romance – both strong, fierce and powerful, and completely and utterly devoted to each other. They’ve been through a lot already, and have risen above it to become stronger and more committed than before, and this book dives right back into all of that intensity.

Firstly, there’s Knox, and damn, that demon is sensational. An uber-powerful demon, he’s totally alpha – possessive and protective of what he considers his. And while he exerts that all over Harper, he also respects that she is powerful in her own right, and he acknowledges how much he needs her and how lost he would be without her, and I love that! And Harper is a wonderful match for him. Smart, sarcastic and sassy in the way that most Suzanne Wright heroines are, she can not only keep her head in a crisis but she holds her own against the most powerful demon on earth. Her intelligence and wit blend perfectly with her huge heart and her wicked sense of humour, and I just love her.

And the relationship between these two is just awesome. Blisteringly hot and steamy with an incredibly intense emotional connection, Knox and Harper are madly in love and they want the world to know it, and they don’t let anything stand in their way. And they are SO functional! There’s no stupid game-playing, things happen, and they talk about everything. There’s no secrets or hiding information in order to protect the other, or in order to not hurt the other (and the opportunity was there!). They share everything, and it is so great to see a true partnership like that. They really are the full package, and seeing them together is the true highlight of each book in the series.

This book sees some major changes for them, and as always, they handle it sensibly and openly, and I loved watching the journey they went on as they faced everything head on.

“I didn’t think I’d ever have this. Someone who was mine … Didn’t see it coming.” His face hardened as he added, “I’ll fight to the death to protect and keep what we have.”

I love the continued involvement of Knox’s sentinels and Harper’s family. This is a great bunch of side character that add a lot of humour and heart to the story, and I am keeping my fingers crossed that we get a few spin offs for some of them!

But Harper and Knox’s story isn’t over, and I’m hoping that we get at least one more book for them because there are threads left undone, and with the big shift in their relationship, I’m excited to see where Wright takes their story from here.
