This is the second book in The Wicked Saga, and in order to keep my review spoiler free, it’s going to be pretty vague.

This series tells the story of Ivy Morgan, a member of The Order – the group responsible for guarding the Earth from fae who want to invade and feed upon humans. She was born into The Order and has lost family, friends and her first love to the cause, and though she has her own dreams, she remains committed to her job. But everything changed for her in the first book – firstly when she met Ren, an Order member from out of state that is in town with his own secretive mission, and a devastating betrayal led to the Order facing their biggest threat as a new and dangerous enemy emerged in New Orleans.

This book picks up where the last one left off with Ivy coming to terms with the life-changing bombshell, and what it means for her, her role in the Order, and her relationship with Ren. She has no idea what to do or who to trust, and with a more than one target on her back, she’s in more danger than ever before.

I really enjoyed this book. It has a different feel to it than the first, and I found parts of it to be a bit slow moving in the middle, but the intrigue is developing and the story is building really nicely.

Ivy continues to be fantastic. She’s strong and brave yet also vulnerable, and I thought she was really relatable Ren is proving to be a great romantic hero, and the sexy time and swoon is really nicely done. Tink continues to shine, and steals almost every scene he’s in. There’s some great progression for his character, and I love how that’s all playing out.

I was not alone in this.
I was only a little torn, but not broken.
“Yeah,” I said. “I’ll be okay.”
And I was brave.

The new bad guy is seriously creepy, but I love the dynamic between him and Ivy – she wants to kill him but can’t, he needs her alive while others are trying to kill her. It’s a great set-up, and with more mysteries unravelling, I’m really excited to see where it all goes from here.

3.5 stars.
