5 stars and all the feeeeeels!
#Marrowforlife!
What can I say about Maximoff and Farrow that I haven’t already said? Not a whole lot, because they are an amazing couple and I cannot gush enough about them, and this book is a spectacular celebration of the love that Maximoff and Farrow have for each other. This is their third book, and they remain together, committed, and riding all that life throws at them – standing strong together, being there for each other and leaning on each other. And every moment of it is pure bliss.
“You said you wanted an in-your-face, overjoyed kind of love that knocks you backwards.” He takes a beat. “But our love is that and better. Our love is headstrong. It never yields, never dies. And when it knocks you backwards, it pulls you upright again.”
This book picks up with Maximoff and Farrow happy and blissfully in love, but their relationship is now public. And with them settling into a contented, no-long-secret, life together, they are both questioning the other sides of their lives. This book follows them as they work through it all and figure it out – together of course – all while dealing with the hassles of celebrity and the dramas that Maximoff’s family bring. There are dramas, heartache and big reveals, scenes that had me laughing-out-loud, others that had tears rolling down my face. I felt it all and I loved every freaking moment of it.
His forehead almost touches mine, our lips nearly skimming as he whispers, “You’re holding me.” His husky voice quakes, his hand clutching my jaw. “And my arms are tight around you, and your chest is against my chest.”
Tears scald our eyes, and we breathe and breathe, and I whisper, “You know, my heart is in your hands.”
I can’t get enough of the dynamic between them. Their love for each other is palpable, and between steamy, knowing glances, gentle touches and hotter-than-hell sexy time, we get to feel all of it! But more than that, it’s the smirks, the teasing, the laughter and fun, and the fact that they just get each other that makes these two such an incredible couple.
From the irreverent…
Rowin glances briefly at Farrow’s hand on me, then he scribbles on the chart. His eyes land on me for a short second. “You’re too sweet to be with someone like Farrow.”
Farrow rubs my leg. “You’d be surprised how much of a dick Maximoff is.”
To the breathtakingly romantic…
“It feels like every time I try to come up for air, someone else shits on you or me or us, and the only time I can breathe is when I’m looking at you.”
*dreamy sigh*
It’s something special that Krista & Becca Ritchie bring to all of their stories. Their main couple has an ‘us against the world’ sort of feeling, even though they may be surrounded and supported by the love of friends and family. But there is something so epic about their love stories that make you just lose yourself in the unique wonder of the couple together, and I could honestly read about these two forever!
“When I love someone,” he says in a rough whisper, “I love them proudly, and you deserve the achingly normal, romantic shit more than anyone.”
And seeing them as part of the larger group of their family and friends is a fangirl dream! There is lots of time spent with Maximoff’s cousins, as well as their parents, and I love seeing where they are individually and in their couples, just as much as I love seeing how they interact with Maximoff and Farrow, and how the groups are together.
Lo focusses on me. “Are you willing to show my son the same respect that I’ve raised him to show you?”
Maximoff makes a face. “Where the fuck are these questions coming from?”
I watch as Lo digs into his pocket and pulls out a crumbled piece of paper. “Questions for the Overly Tattooed Boyfriend of My Perfect Son Dot Com.” He gives me an iconic dry smile. “I hate tattoos.”
“I know,” I say with a nod. “Good thing your son loves them.”
This series continues to have the best dynamics I have ever read, and each book just builds that further and further. It’s something that I can’t gush enough about, and it sucks you right into their world while you relish every single word that is spoken, every glance that is given, and even the way the Ritchies describe how the characters stand next to each other! There’s a moment in this book where Maximoff stands with Lo on one side of him and Ryke on the other, and just reading about them standing there almost brought me to tears! You see it, you feel so much, and all of it is just so incredibly special.
And as fantastic as it is to catch up with the Hale/Cobalt/Meadows clans, the bodyguards that make up the security team in the series have established themselves as a family of their own, and I freaking love them! The personalities, the teasing and banter, the fun, the loyalty, and the fact that they have unequivocally have each other’s, and their client’s, backs makes them a truly special group, and I cannot get enough of them!
This is the final book for Maximoff and Farrow for now. The series will now shift to two books for Jane and Thatcher, and then Sulli and Akara, and holy hell, I can’t wait for their stories! We will continue to see Maximoff and Farrow of course, and they will get their own book again later in the series. And while I will miss being so up close and personal with them, I am content to sit back and revel in everything that the Ritchie sisters bring us, because I know it’s going to be awesome.
I freaking LOVED this one! 5 massive stars!
