4 stars!
After a situation at Brown University, Summer transfers to Briar University and finds herself without a place to live. Her only option is to move in with some of her brother’s friends who are in need of a fourth roommate. She knows it will take some getting used to living with hockey guys, especially since Fitzy is one of them.
“I remember Fitzy,” I say as casually as I’m capable of—which is not casual at all. Even I can hear the excitement in my voice.
Who can blame me, though? Fitzy is short for Colin Fitzgerald, and he just happens to be THE UNICORN. The tall, sexy, tattooed, hockey-playing unicorn of a man who I might have a teeny-weeny itsy-bitsy crush on.
Okay, fine.
A big motherfucking crush on.
Fitzy is Summer’s brother’s friend and though he actively fights his attraction to her, it’s apparent they have a connection. Add in another roommate who wants her for himself, a difficult advisor, and a creepy professor, and things are bound to get complicated!
The Chase is another Elle Kennedy sports romance that is fun, sexy and sweet. With an addictive plot and endearing characters, I couldn’t put it down.
Summer is strong, feisty, fun, and relatable. She is an extrovert who lights up a room and stands up for what she believes even if it puts her in the limelight. I connected with her and the challenges she faces. She’s misunderstood and her insecurities made her real.
I put on the cavalier, nothing-in-life-ever-ever-gets-to-me voice that I’ve perfected over the years. It’s my armor. I pretend that my life is a beautiful Victorian house and hope that nobody peers close enough to see the cracks in my facade.
I love that Summer goes through wonderful growth and self-discovery. She’s far from perfect and totally dramatic but I loved her nonetheless.
Fitzy is sweet, hot, and a total nerd in a sexy way. He is an introvert that doesn’t like the spotlight and I understood why. He grew up with parents who liked drama and drama seems to follow Summer but he doesn’t want any part of it.
Summer Dilemma—the frustrating, polar reactions this green-eyed, golden-haired goddess sparks in me.
Fuck yes and hell no.
Get naked with her. Run far, far away from her.
However, Fitzy soon realizes Summer is nothing like he first thought and he can’t seem keep his heart out of the picture the more he gets to know her.
Fitzy and Summer are good together. The banter is entertaining and the sizzling chemistry and strong sexual tension seep from the pages. It took a little longer than I expected for Fitzy and Summer to actually get together but when they do it’s hot, heavy, and worth the wait.
”I’ll never find another you.”
Her lips part in wonder. “That’s the sweetest thing you’ve ever said to me.”
“I can be sweet when I want to.” My knuckles graze her clit. “But right now, I’m feeling dirty.” I slip a finger inside her. “Spread your legs so I can screw you against the wall.”
There is a little drama from both sides of the relationship and outside factors working against them but it wasn’t over-the-top or excessively angsty. I liked the way things played out and feel like Summer and Fitzy really are perfect together.
I have to give a shout out to the Off Campus guys! I loved seeing glimpses into their lives and how well everyone is doing. And now that we have more of the Brair U boys, I cant wait for the next book, The Risk, coming February 2019!!
