Set about a year after the end of Beautiful Bastard, this novella is a nice little glimpse into Bennett and Chloe’s relationship. It’s essentially the epilogue to their story, with a bit of a lead in to the rest of the series .
They are settled together, but are busy dealing with the realities of life and their insanely busy careers, and are having difficulties finding time for each other. Once again told in dual POV we get to see them reminisce over their time together, and I enjoyed getting to see flashbacks of their relationship (their ‘real’ reunion, meeting the parents, moments at work), as well as both of them figuring out what it is they want going forward.
“Find a woman who will be your equal in every way. Don’t let yourself fall for someone who’ll put your world before theirs. Fall for the powerhouse who lives as fearlessly as you do. Find the woman who makes you want to be a better man.”
“I’d definitely found my equal, the woman who made my life a living hell and lived to antagonize me. A woman whose mouth I wanted to tape shut…every bit as much as I wanted to kiss it.”
Bennett and Chloe are still incredibly passionate with each other, and as expected with these two it’s not always easy, but they love each other deeply, and they make it work.
“I can function without you. But I don’t like being away from you. It feels like you take my home with you when you go.”
It’s funny, it’s hot, it’s dirty and it’s romantic. I really enjoyed it.
