4 “You in love with me yet?” stars
Matt Reed – middle of the fabulous Reed brothers – has had a piece of my heart since I read about him in book 1. He’s been through a life-threatening illness, and devastating betrayal and heartache, and he’s come out of it into a good place – content and happy, and with a family that he loves dearly.
Sky has recently had her world turned upside down. The death of an unknown half-sister leaves her with three children to raise. As a successful attorney with a boyfriend and a mediocre love life, Sky had no idea what she was in for when she agreed to take on a family. And then Matt walks into her life.
Matt and Sky met in the last book as Matt sat by the deathbed of a dear friend. He knows the children, and he feels drawn to Sky, so he is there for her as she dives headfirst into her new life. Of course there is a strong attraction between them, and it’s not long before the boyfriend is ditched, and these two are embarking on some epic flirting.
One of the things I love most about these books is knowing that there’s not going to be game playing or stupid, angsty back and forth between the couple. The Reed boys are very forward about their feelings, and Matt is no different!
“I’m going to make you fall in love with me”.
Yep, he’s right in there with no messing about, and once again, it’s awesome! The ‘wooing’ part of the storyline is full of teasing, laughs, some truly beautiful moments and some great UST and, as usual, they talk they are open and talk about everything.
“I don’t like wasting time because it’s one of the only things in life we can’t get more of. So, I know I’m moving really fast and I’m probably scaring the shit out of you, but that’s how I roll. I love hard when I love, and I hope you’re okay with that.”
I scoff. “Don’t tell me you’re in love with me when you just met me. I’d have to call you a liar.”
“No, I’m not in love with you… yet. But for the first time in a long time, I want to chase this feeling and see where it goes.”
I love Matt! Because of his past, he has a vulnerability about him which is absolutely gorgeous! He’s not afraid to put his heart on the line for Sky, and he goes all out to get her despite his fears.
“Once I fall in love with you, don’t ever cheat on me. If you want to be done with me, tell me. But don’t lie to me or cheat on me. It’ll make me hate you. And all I want to do is love you. Someday. When we’re both ready.”
Sky has come from a background where she’s never felt loved, so being enveloped in all that is Matt (and his family), takes a bit of getting used to, but again, she accepts it open-heartedly, with all that comes along with it.
“I kind of need you, Matt. I kind of need for you to love me, too.”
I roll her to her back and settle between her thighs. I balance myself on my elbows by her head so I can play with the wet hair on her forehead, brushing it gently to the side. “Done,” I say.
Her eyes jerk up to mine. “Done?” she echoes.
I nod and kiss the tip of her nose. “I want to eat, sleep, and breathe you, woman”
There’s lots of family time, and I loved the moments that both Matt and Sky had with her adopted kids – particularly Seth – and, of course, the rest of the Reed clan are all a part of the story and their teasing, rough-housing, and the evidence of the close bond that they all share is fantastic. And not just the boys, the girls have also been wholly accepted into the family, and I love it when they’re all together.
With a great mix of sweetness, dirty talk and steaminess, the romance is absolutely fantastic, and I loved Matt and Sky’s story. Their coming together was beautiful, and the epilogue was perfect. And OMG, I’m excited for Paul and Friday!
I loved it – 4 stars.
