4 short and hot, friends-to-lovers stars
Evan Ross may just be the perfect man! He is the super-hot, supportive, protective, guy who has secretly been in love with his best friend, Kelsey since College, and did I mention hot? OH-SO-HOT!!! Luckily Kelsey was secretly in love with Evan back in College so once her bastard husband cheats on her and they divorce, it doesn’t take long for those feelings to resurface (although I suspect they were really always there just simmering away in the background).
I love a good friends-to-lovers story. Both Evan and Kelsey have been through some awful times, and their long-held feelings for each other finally come out during a trip to Hawaii together. It doesn’t take too long for things to steam up, and when I say that I mean REALLY steam up. Whew! The steam-factor in this book is off the charts, and all I can say is that Kelsey is a very lucky girl!
“I love how you tremble for me,” he whispered. “I love how you’re shy until you need me and then you aren’t ashamed to tel me what you want.”
Kelsey comes off as a little bit weak at times, but these two certainly have a lot of baggage between them. But I love that she’s the one that steps up in the end to fight for what she wants.
“… and now I’m telling you that if you want me, get off your ass, because I love you, Evan, more than anything”
And the response from Evan is classic! I won’t post here because I don’t want to ruin it – just read the book!
This is a great, short read, recommended to all who love a hot romance. There’s even a brief glimpse of pre-Rock Me Brian (Evan’s brother).
I really enjoyed it – 4 stars.
