4 stars!
Five guys. One bar. And a whole heap of sexy trouble…
I love the brother’s best friend/forbidden romance troupe so I was excited to get my hands on Troublemaker featuring Dante, the fifth owner of Rascals, and Hayley the sister of Emerson, Dante’s friend and business partner. From the first time we met Dante and Hayley there was something between them. Maybe it was just looks across a bar or maybe there was something more. Either way I wanted to know because we were left analyzing every one of their interactions in the other books in the Rascals series.
I really enjoyed Troublemaker and all of the sweet, sexy, fun moments it delivered. It was different than I expected because I thought I knew who Hayley and Dante were to each other when I read about them in the previous books. I was pleasantly surprised by story’s progression and was thrilled to finally know the truth.
Dante is closed off, broody, and a mystery. He never fully lets anyone in, including his close friends, and isn’t looking for a relationship. He had a rough childhood but was lucky to meet Bull, a gym owner who took him under his wing. It takes a long time to figure out who Dante really is but when we do we see the wonderful man underneath.
I liked Hayley from the moment I met her. She is fresh, fun, and has a huge heart. She is good but she definitely likes the kind of bad the Dante can offer. She wants him and I love that she goes after him even though he is “off limits.”
“There’s something there…Chemistry, attraction, whatever you want to call it, but it’s there. And I don’t want to ignore it.”
Hayley makes it obvious she wants Dante and the sexual tension spikes after the hot first kiss, leaving you wanting more. Dante feels their connection but he needs to stay away from his best friends sister because he has no control when he is around her. However, they can’t seem to avoid each other and when they are together they are on fire.
I loved how raw, how intense he was. He wasn’t going to coddle me. He wasn’t going to protect me. He was going to take me. And I wanted it. I wanted it so badly I was practically shaking.
There’s a bit of back and forth that is frustrating but I love that Hayley doesn’t back down. She is just what Dante needs.
When she looked at me . . .
Those big brown eyes always got me. Because when she looked at me, I saw the man I wanted to be. The man I had once hoped I could be. The man I knew I could never be. But she made it feel like it was possible. She made me feel like I could do anything.
No matter how different they thought they are, Dante and Hayley end up being perfect for each other and I love them together. And though Dante’s story marks the ending of the series and I am sad to see the Rascals go, it was a wonderful conclusion and wrapped everything up in a delightful way!
