“The stunning conclusion to the Roma Royals Duet Series. The very best of Callie Hart. Hold on tight, because this is one hell of a ride!”

Son.
Lover.
Protector.

KING.

I’ve been many things to many people over the course of my life, but that title – King – has always been a tough pill to swallow. If I want to help Zara save her friend, then I must find a way to shoulder the pressure, though. I must unravel this complicated tangle of clues and hunt down a madman I thought I’d already killed three years ago in order to bring Sarah home in one piece.

My people are depending on me to protect them.
Zara is trusting me to keep her alive.
There isn’t a sacrifice I won’t make for her.
My Firefly.
My Queen.
I’ll raze this world to the ground to keep her safe…

4 stars!

The conclusion to the Roma Royals Duet and whoa, what an ending! The conclusion to Pasha and Zara’s story is suspenseful and exciting with a sexy and passionate romance, and it kept me guessing until the very end. I really enjoyed this one!

You absolutely need to have read [book:Roma King|41438234] before reading this book, and I’m not going to go into details about the story because you need to read it and experience it for yourself. But this book picks up where the last book left off, and Pasha and Zara are off to find answers to the mysterious events that have been unfolding around them.

It’s a fast-paced, exciting, mysterious and suspenseful ride that is full of twists, turns and big reveals. There’s no way I could have predicted where the story would go, and I love that element of surprise that kept me hypothesising madly all the way through! The book takes us deeper into the Roma community, and into some pretty dark and disturbing places, and it’s not always an easy read but, once again, Callie Hart kept me captivated as it all unfolded.

I loved that we got to learn so much about these characters. We met Pasha as an enigmatic, closed-off badass with a history full of secrets, and while he is still definitely a badass, he’s opening up to Zara and I loved getting know more about him! I especially loved that we got to see his (still very alpha) romantic and playful side.

“I became the person I needed to be to survive. I refuse to regret or feel bad about that. None of it really fucking matters anyway.”
“Why?”
“’Cause at the end of the day…I’m the lucky motherfucker who bagged himself the girl.”

And Zara proved to be an epic badass in her own right! Standing strong both with and without her man, I love her strength, her sass and her bravery, and I love that Pasha embraced that side of her.

“Give me fire any day. Give me a raging argument if you disagree with me. Be braver than me. Be fucking smarter than me. I’ll only love you more for it.”

The romance is gorgeous! Intense, emotional and oh-so-freaking hot! This is a highly passionate couple in every way and together they are absolutely sizzling! And they are blessedly functional – there’s no unnecessary drama, which I loved, and Pasha and Zara are standing strong as a couple as they get to the bottom of the mystery and deal with everything that is being thrown their way.

“I wouldn’t have let you go,” he says. “If you decided we weren’t supposed to be…” He shakes his head, changing tack. “I would have fucking fought for you, Zara. I would have made sure you knew that, for me, this isn’t just real. This is the only thing that’s real. The only thing that matters. Everything else is just white noise.”

This book has some pretty dark themes, and some of the scenes are disturbing. It’s more things that are alluded or referred to than actually seeing it unfold on the page, but it’s still intense and cringeworthy. But it adds to the mood of the overall story and makes Pasha and Zara’s fight even more important as they hunt for the answers they are seeking.

And with Pasha returning home to finally face his family, there are moments of sweetness, humour and dramatic significance as we get to see more of the Roma community, their culture, and the friends and family that he’s been separated from for so long.

It’s a great read that finishes off the Duet really nicely, however there were a few unanswered questions left at the end for me…

Spoiler
What happened to Shelta? What happened to Zaras’ job that she was so passionate about? Did Sarah come back to the clan, and did she and Archie get it on?
I would have like just a little bit more info to close off those outlying details. But the main part of the story finishes off really well.

4 stars.
