Meghan March’s Black Sheep is the first book in the Dirty Mafia Duet and the beginning of what is sure to be an epic love story. It’s a captivating tale of murder, mystery, deception, and vengeance with an chemistry-filled romance that is consuming and addictive, and I loved it all!!

Drew Carson is an investigative reporter who is desperate to get to the bottom of her father’s death. He was working a case against Dom Casso, head of the mafia, and Drew knows the Casso family is responsible. She interviews for a job at the Upper Ten, an exclusive cigar bar run by Dom’s illegitimate son, Cannon Freeman, in hopes to gain information on Dom and anyone else involved. While she is prepared to face the danger that comes with the mob, she isn’t prepared for Cannon.

From the moment they meet, Drew and Cannon have an immediate attraction but Drew knows she can’t get involved with her target, and Cannon never touches employees. However, their connection is unexpected and their chemistry is undeniable. As they try to keep their hands to themselves, the sexual tension skyrockets and they fall deeper into each other’s lives. Somewhere along the way lines blur and they wrestle with the conflict between their hearts and minds.

Cannon turns me in his arms, and I stare at his mouth, wishing I didn’t have to hate him. Wishing this could be a real date and I didn’t have hidden motives. But I do, and I always will. He doesn’t even know my real name, and if I do my part right, he won’t know it until I testify against him in court.

Cannon and Drew come together in an unusual way but it doesn’t take away from the realness of their feelings and emotions. Seductive, sensual, and consuming, these two are on fire together but they are also so sweet and swoony, and I loved it!

I love the way the story starts to unfold as you get bits and pieces of the truth while the most important parts are kept hidden. Drew is not who she said she is and it is only a matter of time before everything is out in the open. When her secret is discovered, it’s exciting and suspenseful. I was at the edge of my seat and just about had a heart attack at the end of the book. I was expecting a cliffhanger but this one is a doozy. I have no idea what’s going to happen and I can’t wait to dive into White Knight. I need more Cannon and Drew in my life!!
