I loved this book! An intense, slow burning rock star romance between an eager, somewhat innocent young college student, and a hot rock star. Sweet and emotional, this is the beginning of a new series, and it’s a really solid start to a story that I’m excited to read more of.
Haley is a college junior who is passionate about music, with a skill for technology. Against all odds, she has just landed an internship at Wicked Records, where she encounters sexy rock star, Jax Jamieson. Though she’s idolised him from afar for years, their first meeting does not go well, but in a random twist, she winds up on tour with his band, Riot Act, working as a sound tech, with side duties of babysitting Jax when required.
Jax isn’t the hard-partying womaniser that we read about in so many rock star books. Sure, he’s sexy and broody, but he is so much more than he allows people to see. He came from nothing, and he has a huge heart, caring deeply for the people in his life, and slowly and surely, that starts to include Haley.
Bonding over music, Jax and Haley learn that they have a lot in common, and as they start to hang out, they get to know each other and start opening up, and the friendship that develops is just beautiful. They truly care for each other, and they share an attraction with sizzles beneath each and every encounter.
But not only is there a significant age gap between them (Jax is 28, Haley is 20), but they are on completely different roads in life. Though it would be so easy for them to fall together, they just don’t allow themselves to go there, so we get this wonderful slow burn that really pulls at all of the heart strings. There’s not even any sex, just a bone-melting kiss that is a sign of what is to come.
I love these characters. Of course Jax, the sexy, broody, tattooed rock star with a heart of gold is completely delicious, and I really enjoyed Haley is as well. She’s a computer and music nerd who is inexperienced when it comes to men, but she’s got this quiet confidence that I just love, plus she’s witty, open, and lots of fun. The secondary characters – Haley’s best friend, Jax’s band, and the others on the tour – are lots of fun as well, bringing some light entertainment and a nice sense of camaraderie to the story.
Finishing on a bit of a cliffhanger, this is just the beginning of Haley and Jax’s story, laying the groundwork for what has the potential to become an epic romance, and I’m so freaking excited to continue on.
4 stars!
Note – The audiobook is narrated by Joe Arden and Savannah Peachwood, and they do a great job with it, I definitely recommend listening to this one.

The second book in the Wicked series, this book follows directly on from Good Girl, picking up the story of good girl Haley and rockstar Jax Jamieson after they’ve spent a couple of months apart.
The first book was a delicious slow burn as Haley and Jax got to know each other and developed feelings for that had the potential for epicness, but it remained as this feeling of anticipation as we waited for them to come together for real. Their situation was tricky, and the book ended with them in different cities. Now, they are reunited, and it’s clear from the very beginning that all of those feelings are back, with an even stronger dose of sexual tension, and naturally and oh-so-easily, they find themselves finally falling together.
It’s sexy, passionate and emotional, and I loved seeing them finally explore all of that chemistry between them. It was well worth the wait, and they are a beautiful mix of playfulness, teasing, explosive lust and a soul-deep connection.
They both have pretty significant things happening in their lives individually, and I loved watching them deal with all of that, having each other’s backs and supporting each other through their challenges. But then life takes a dramatic turn that neither of them were expecting, and they are both forced to make choices that will change their lives forever.
It’s another twist in Jax and Haley’s story, but I’m loving it! I love the build-up, the emotion, and the fun, sexy, and deeply intense love story, and after that final bombshell, I’m really excited to see where their story goes from here.
I loved it – 4 stars.

What a fantastic finish to the series! I have binged Haley and Jax’s story from start to finish, and this was a really satisfying conclusion to their journey. Emotional and heartwarming, and a love story worthy of these two characters.
This series is one continuous story, so don’t try and read this one as a standalone, and when reading this review beware spoilers for the earlier books in the series.
The last book saw Haley and Jax make the heartbreaking choice to go their separate ways after they realised that they couldn’t have it all. It’s been two years, and their lives are very different from what they once were, but when Haley needs help at Wicked Records, she knows Jax can help, and the ultimate gamble pays off when he arrives back in town.
That chemistry still sizzles between them, but not only is Jax unhappy to be dragged back into the world he left behind, but their dynamic has completely shifted. It creates some entertaining back and forth, but the love they once had for each other is still very much alive and it doesn’t take too long for them to fall back into each other’s arms.
But they still have barriers between them. Haley is fighting to save the legacy she has tried so hard to protect and is so passionate about, and Jax wants no part of that world. But the more time they spend together, things once again begin to shift, and as all of those old feelings come back – stronger than ever – they’ll finally figure out where they’re supposed to be.
I loved this book. It’s not only a gorgeous second-chance-romance that is sexy, emotional and fun, but it’s got wonderful character development that forms such a strong part of the story. Jax and Haley have both changed so much from the people they were when they first met, and though they’re both still finding their way, bringing them back together allows them to do that as a couple, and I love that so much!
They’ve had their difficulties, but it’s been sensible. I can understand how things played out the way they did, and I think they made really smart decisions for themselves. As much as I loved them together, given all that was happening in their lives, I think their time apart was a really good decision for them and allowed them come back better than ever, and we got to reap all those benefits in a beautifully swoony reconnection!
“I don’t know what I did to deserve you. But I’m not questioning it anymore.”
I have loved this series. Jax and Haley’s love story is full of chemistry, passion and soul-deep connection. It isn’t all sunshine and roses, but it’s real, and the rock star element just makes it even more exciting.
A fantastic read – 4 stars.
