“You’ll never know how incredible you are to me, how desperately I love you. I would do it all over again if I needed to. I’d go back to the beginning for you.”
Woohoo!!! What a beautiful ending to an amazing love story. Thoughtless tore my heart out as Kellan and Kiera found each other and fell in love against all odds. Effortless cemented their relationship, and finished beautifully, leaving us with an idea of how Kellan and Kiera’s HEA would turn out. Reckless gives us that HEA in detail.
Kellan and the D-Bags have now hit the big time. They are off to LA to record their first album, and then a promotional tour, photo shoots, film clips, and interviews. It’s absolutely crazy, but this time Kiera is along for the ride – having struggled so hard to be together, and endured a separation already, neither of them want to be apart anymore. Shy of publicity, Kiera is there for her man, but is happy exist in the background a bit. But Kellan is on the road to superstardom, and when his label starts to market him as ‘available’, the media circus descends, and things get way out of control. With Kellan suddenly thrust into the spotlight, he and Kiera have to find a way to ride the craziness, allowing Kellan to do what he loves, while still having a life of their own together.
There is drama, and there is angst, but unlike the previous books, this time it’s not because of lack of communication and misunderstandings, it’s all coming at them from outside of their relationship. Kellan and Kiera are committed and strong, and not once did I worry that they would be driven apart. They are deeply in love and their relationship still sizzles (hot damn!!!), but also they have a new level of trust between them, and are both determined to fight for what they have. And watching them stand together in the middle of everything going on around them was sensational!
“Kellan’s life wasn’t private anymore, and parts of it were going to be uncomfortable for both of us. But I knew his heart, and he knew mine, and together we would work through the rough patches.”
Kiera, particularly has grown so much as a character, and she seriously impressed me in this book. No longer the “whiny, clingy, petty, wishy-washy…downright annoying” heroine that irritated the crap out readers worldwide, she has owned up to her flaws, and is moving on. She knows she made the right decision with Kellan, is confident in their relationship, and is a lot less selfish, and more mature and self-assured.
“He was everything to me, and I didn’t want to miss a moment of his journey just because parts of it were unpleasant. No. When I’d agreed to be his wife, I’d also been agreeing to stand beside him through thick or thin … I wasn’t running, I wasn’t avoiding – not anymore.”
And Kellan surpassed every level of awesome that he has shown in the previous books. Seriously, I could just weep at the perfection that is Kellan Kyle. I’ve ranted about him in reviews of the previous books, and everybody knows he’s a fuckhot rock star who is loving, funny, and totally freaking sexy. We see a bit more of his vulnerable side, and my heart broke for him as he struggled to deal with the seedy side of fame (at one point I felt physically sick with what he had to go through… Sienna…grrrrrrr). But he is still romantic as all hell, and the swoon factor is kicked up a notch as Kellan goes all out to protect and defend his girl – making sure that she is happy and ok with everything that is happening around them, and ensuring that she knows her place in his life.
“I love you too, Kiera. Just you. You’re my always.”
There is lots of time spent with the D-Bags, and I loved the secondary storyline of Anna and Griffin. Griffin kinda rocked my world a little bit in this book. Still very much Griffin, he also grows up a bit, and watching him get his life together and find his HEA was awesome.
“I didn’t want to fuck either of those girls because I’m in love with your fucking sister! Are you happy now, bitch! I’m fucking whipped… just like these other pussies.”
Denny is also back and the relationship between the three of them is reconciled even further. I did struggle a bit with how intense the feelings were between them after everything that had happened, but as it all played out, it made more sense to me, and I love that they were able to overcome the past and move forward to be there for each other. It also shows how much these characters have grown.
I love this series, and this was the perfect ending. It was a bit cheesy in places, and despite a few shocking moments, it was mostly pretty predictable. But after all that these characters have been through, I was happy to sit back and lap it all up. There is lots of time spent with Kellan and Kiera together, and I swooned, squeed and laughed my way through the whole thing. Plus there’s an epilogue to give us a glimpse of the future and finish it all off beautifully.
Loved it. 5 swoony stars.
