Michaela Olsson has found her soulmate in James Khan. There are just a few teeny, tiny problems…
One, he’s her boss, two, he’s too old for her, and three, well, he happens to be engaged to somebody else.
She’ll take this crush and bury it deep. She’ll take it to her grave. James already belongs to another, so she’ll lock her secret up so tight it’ll be deprived of oxygen, suffocate and die.
Too dark?
Matters are only made worse when James asks her to move into his newly purchased house to supervise the renovations. Working together every day is bad enough, but living in a house he owns is far more intimate than she expected. Then, when James decides to call off his wedding without any explanation whatsoever, Michaela wonders if perhaps her feelings for him aren’t as one-sided as she thought.
While he was engaged James shared a flat with his fiancée, but now he’s moving into the house that Michaela has been living in by herself. She hadn’t intended for it to happen, but the place has started to feel like home, and with the object of her affections suddenly sharing her living space, things become infinitely more complicated. And heated.
Soon Michaela learns she might’ve had more to do with James calling off his engagement than she could’ve possibly imagined.
Something in the Air can be read as a standalone and is book #2 in the Running on Air Series.

5 stars!
“Is it just me or is there something in the air tonight?”
Something in the Air is a heartwarming read that delivers all the feels. With fantastic characters, an entertaining storyline, and a love story to believe in, this book easily gets a spot on my favorites list.
From the moment Michaela met James, she’s crushed on him hard; however, since he’s engaged, she hides her feelings and focuses on her job as one of the assistants who cater to the team of free runners on the television show, Running on Air. James happens to be one of her bosses but that doesn’t stop them from becoming great friends and forming a strong connection that neither can deny.
When Michaela runs into a housing situation and the solution is to move into James’ new house and manage the renovations, she has even more difficulty dealing with her unrequited feelings. Then when James is suddenly single, resisting the pull between them is impossible, and we get a wonderful love story that will fill your heart completely.
James and I had formed a bond over the last few months, and even though it was wrong, there was an innocence to it. It was sad, because the kind of connection we shared couldn’t be put into words. It was simply something I felt deep inside me.
It’s easy to fall in love with James and Michaela. James is such a great guy. Sweet and gentle while still being strong and loyal, he has a pure heart and I fell for him fast. Michaela is such a good person too. She is kind, honest, and a breath of fresh air. She is selfless and puts her friends first. I couldn’t help but love her to pieces.
Even when James was engaged, there was a spark between him and Michaela. They have a connection that is real and they get to know each other better than anyone else just by listening to one another. When tragedy strikes it is heartbreaking, and James’s reaction is honest and real. Michaela is there when he needs her most and remained a true friend.
Why did I always feel so much better when I was around her? It was like whatever she was made of sucked out all the sadness inside me and replaced it with hope.
Both Michaela and James are genuine and relatable. Their own vulnerabilities and insecurities make them complex characters and they go through so much growth both individually and then as a couple. They share wonderful slow burn romance and I believed the progression from friends to lovers.
“Sometimes you can’t stop these things…When you develop feelings for someone, it’s a slow slide that turns into an avalanche. Before you know, it you’re buried in snow.”
Even before they were together I felt the sexual tension sizzling around them, so once they were both available, that tension skyrocketed until they couldn’t hold back any longer. It’s romantic and sweet, and I love that they take their time.
Even when things get tough, James and Michaela are functional and wonderful together. The lack of drama for the sake of drama is refreshing and I love that there is no questioning their feelings. They may hit a few bumps in the road but they are resolved quickly, and I love the way things turn out.
It was so good seeing the rest of the Running on Air gang again because I love them all! Their friendships are real and they have each other’s backs. I can’t wait for more and to catch up with them in the future when the next book in the series comes out!
Overall, Something in the Air is an emotional friends-to-lovers romance and a wonderful addition to the Running on Air series. I loved everything about Michaela and James, and they have easily found a place in my heart. This books is definitely a new favorite!!
