Blurb
Londyn McCormack didn’t have a typical childhood. She ran away from home at sixteen, escaping parents more interested in drugs than their daughter. She doesn’t have loving siblings or an adorable pet. Her only family is the five other runaway kids who shared her junkyard home.
Life pulled them all in separate directions, taking her to Boston. For a short time, she thought she’d found something permanent. But after a devastating divorce, she’s running away again, this time to find a lost friend.
She’s driving across the country in her convertible. As a teenager, the rusty car was her shelter. As an adult, it’s her ride to freedom.
Except one flat tire derails her trip. Her life collides with Brooks Cohen. They walked away from the first crash. The second might destroy them both.

This is such a sweet read. The first book in Perry’s new Runaway series, this is a short, cute, drama-free romance that swept me up in its charm, and I loved it!
Londyn has come from a really hard background. The parents of drug addicts, she ran away from home at 16 and found a new ‘family’ amongst other runaways, six of them living together in a junk yard and helping each other to survive. At age 18 she took off to make a life for herself and ended up in Boston where she found a job, married, and settled for the first time in her life. But now, her marriage has fallen apart, which is probably a good thing given that she had pretty much turned into a Stepford wife. She has been stuck for so long that she has forgotten the girl she used to be, so she ditches her ‘perfect’ life and sets off once again to cross the country and catch up with the friends that were there for her so long ago.
But while embracing the freedom of life on the road without schedules or plans, she gets a flat tire right outside the small town of Summers, West Virginia. And when handsome mechanic, Brooks, comes along to save the day, her roadtrip takes an unexpected detour.
Oh, what a gorgeous romance! Sparks fly between Londyn and Brooks from the very beginning, and though the story moves quickly, the love story has the feel of a delicious slow burn as they spend time together and feelings begin to develop. They are honest with each other, the timing is realistic, and things progress naturally and easily, and the chemistry is fantastic!
“What are you doing here?” …
Our noses were practically touching. No one in the room would mistake my intention, Londyn included. “I’m here for you, honey.”
But Londyn isn’t in town for long. Their time together will soon come to an end, but when the time comes, will they be able to say goodbye?
“Don’t forget me,” I whispered. I’d been forgotten by too many people. I couldn’t bear the idea of Brooks forgetting me too. “I’ll remember you until the end, Londyn.” Brooks ran his knuckles along my cheek, leaving a trail of sparks on my skin. “Until the end.” I rose up and fused our mouths, giving him everything I had and trusting him with all my broken pieces.
I loved this book. Written in dual POV, we get to see all that Londyn and Brooks are thinking and feeling, and I fell in love with both of them. I love their honesty, and the way they follow their hearts with each other, and I loved seeing them come together as easily as they did.
There is some drama, with both of them having exes that aren’t quite ready to let go, but it doesn’t interfere with the love story. There’s even a twist of mystery/suspense which creates some interesting drama, but again, doesn’t overshadow the love story. It’s a sweet and easy read that I finished in a couple of hours, and that epilogue left me with a big, cheesy grin on my face.
While this book can easily standalone, Perry has created a fantastic set up for future books to come, and I can’t wait to continue on with the story of Londyn’s best friend, Gemma, next!
Loved it – 4 stars.

“When was the last time you had pie for dinner?”
“Can’t say I ever have.”
Her fork dove into the chocolate cream. She hummed and her eyes drifted closed when the bite passed her lips. She savored it, rolling it around in her mouth. The woman had a talented tongue—lucky pie. She moaned again, torturing me with the subtle sound.
She swallowed, then shot me a smile that was pure sex. “You’re missing out.”
I snapped my fingers, raising my hand in the air to flag down the waitress. When she came over, I pointed to Londyn’s plate. “I’ll have that.”
