Blurb

Everyone says Rex Gunderson isn’t boyfriend material.

Everyone says he isn’t serious enough.

Everyone says he’s a joke. In fact, rumor has it—the disgraced ex-manager of the wrestling team left campus with his tail between his legs.

But Rex is back, nowhere near the douchebag he used to be—and ready to prove everyone wrong.

The leopard has changed his spots—and he’s about to become my dating coach.

3 sweet, fun and sexy stars

Originally published in Team Player 2: Sports Anthology, Rex Gunderson’s long-awaited story is now available as a standalone novella.

Rex has been a longstanding fixture in the How to Date a Douchebag series. As the self-appointed Manager of the College wrestling team, he’s been a funny, and a bit of a douchey, side-kick to the heroes of the series. The Coaching Hours proved to be a bit of a wake up call for him and showed that he actually has a really big heart, and now he’s getting his chance at love.

Hannah was introduced in The Lying Hours (she’s Skylar’s roommate) and she’s really awkward when it comes to guys. She comes off as being sarcastic, rude and abrasive, but she’s still hitting the college’s dating app, and that’s where she meets Rex. He’s back in town to work with the school’s wrestling team, and the two of them strike up a smart, witty, and open conversation about Hannah’s unfortunately antisocial interactions with the opposite sex. Rex gallantly agrees to step in and give her some tips on how to talk to guys, and that’s where the fun begins.

Their conversations – both over text and in person – are full of bickering and bantering and all kinds of word vomit. It’s not really flirtatious, but the chemistry is zinging, and their interactions are so entertaining. I wouldn’t call it romantic, but they just fit, and there’s definitely something brewing between them

Rather than a full story, this novella gives us a glimpse at what Rex and Hannah can be. It ends in a good place, with a healthy dose of steam, and the two of them set up and ready to move forward, and while I would have loved a little bit more to their story, I was happy with how this one finished.

A cute read, this will be a fun one for fans of the series.

3 stars.
