This is such a great read! Sweet, sexy and edgy with a surprising amount of depth, this is the second book in the BSU Football series, but can easily standalone. It’s a really quick read, but still brings the feels, and I loved it.
Spider and Emery hook up after meeting in a bar. At first glance, you wouldn’t think they would be attracted to each other – he’s a pierced and tattooed bad boy, college quarterback and known for his no-strings hook-ups, while she dresses prim and proper in sweater sets with pearls and silk scarves. But their attraction is immediate, and they have an explosive night together.
Things get complicated when, while making a naked middle-of-the-night bathroom run, Spider runs into Emery’s Dad… his Coach. Awkward! Turns out Emery is a woman on a mission to hurt her neglectful father, and Spider is the tool she has chosen to mess with him.
It may be uncool, but Emery is determined to see her plan through, and she continues to pursue Spider to piss off her father. And even though he’s been told to keep his hands off the Coach’s daughter, Spider is intrigued by Emery. She’s nothing like he imagined, and he is drawn to her hidden ‘bad girl’ side who is bold and feisty, and doesn’t give a shit what anybody thinks. And, never one to be told what to do, he can’t keep away.
Truth is, I want to walk away from her, I just can’t. She’s sin incarnate – I know I shouldn’t indulge and yet I do. Over and over again. There is something about her that calls to me, and I’m determined to figure out what exactly it is.
It’s a fun setup that starts off as one thing, and naturally turns into something else. Spider and Emery holding nothing back from each other, and I loved watching them together! They battle and fight, they flirt and tease, the sexy time is sizzling, and the sweet moments are full of emotion. And I loved the way they impact each other’s lives. They both have a lot of pain from their childhoods and Spider has a battle on his hands to win Emery’s heart, but their journey is beautifully written and I was feeling everything along with them, and as they truly open up and get to know the ‘real’ part of each other, their fall absolutely stole my heart.
“I’m afraid once you really get to know me, you’ll leave me.”
“I know you. And I’ve never wanted you more.”
Like I said, it’s a quick read, but it’s got great character development and a whole lot of heart. I was completely sucked in to the story, and I finished this one with a huge smile on my face.
