I WILL RUIN HER.
You know that old saying “opposites attract” — well, no one ever tells you what happens after the attraction part.
Do opposites stick together forever?
Or do they just self-combust?
And then there’s the third option: someone or something forces them apart.
Look, the third option isn’t happening to us. I will end the bastard who thinks he can keep me from her. I only need to worry about one thing. . .
Epic, soul-crushing self-destruction.
Because I screw up everything I touch.
Even her.

Oh, wow. After not falling in love with the first book in this duet, Krista and Becca Ritchie brought the romance in this one, giving us a beautiful finish to Willow and Garrison’s story that is full of feels and deeply satisfying.
Like the first book, this book flicks between past and present – the past where Willow and Garrison first meet and get together, and the ‘present’, years later when they are together as a couple and living separately while Willow attends university in London. Again, I wasn’t a fan of this split because it really messes with the flow of the story, but I thought that both of the parts had more depth to them as we explored their relationship in more detail, and that’s what was missing for me from the first book.
We finally get to see Willow and Garrison actually getting together (which is so freaking sweet), we see them deal with their long distance relationship and find ways to still be together, and we get their long-awaited reunion as they finally get to start living the life together that they’ve dreamed of. It’s all gorgeous, and the romance has a much stronger focus than the first book, which I loved!
“You’re my girl,” he says. “I’ve got your back. Always.”
Again, the Core 6 play a big part in the story, and I didn’t mind it so much in this book. I felt in the first one that time with them took away from Willow and Garrison, but because I was getting that romantic development, and the time spent with the Hale/Cobalt/Meadows crew was actually a big part of Willow and Garrison’s individual character development, I really enjoyed seeing it. Lo, in particular, is beautifully protective of his little sister, and watching Garrison become a part of the group was really special.
“Connor, Ryke, and Lo—they protect me all the time. They care about me when they don’t have to. These are three brothers that I’d never trade in, never swap out, and even though we’re not blood related, I know they’re mine.”
I loved the romance, I loved the character growth, I loved the dynamics, and I loved watching Willow and Garrison finally get their HEA. Of course, we’ve seen them living out their lives together as part of the Like Us series, but now having all of the details and seeing how it all unfolded, it makes their part of the group even more meaningful.
I loved this one. 4.5 stars.
Like the first book, this one is narrated by Cooper North and Charlotte North, and they do a wonderful job with it. Cooper, in particular, is a great Garrison, and I loved listening to this one.
