4 stars!!

I love books with fake marriages and this one delivers its own take on the trope. It’s witty, sweet and swoony, and really enjoyed it.

Walt is a workaholic and would do anything for the company, even marry a stranger. That’s where Elizabeth comes in. She is thrown into a marriage of convince for the sake of her family, and though she doesn’t know exactly what to expect, it’s definitely not Walt.

Elizabeth and Walt hardly know each other when they enter the arrangement. At first there is nothing between them but when Walt refuses to let Elizabeth rent a worn down apartment, he brings her to live with him. Though he isn’t around much, Elizabeth starts to leave her mark on his house and his heart.

I loved the way their relationship formed. The more Elizabeth is inserted in his life, the less Walt can deny that she is something special. She has the kindest heart and does everything to make things easier, expecting nothing in return. She wants to help out where she can even when she feels out of her element and I loved her for it. She has drive and determination, and she never gives in to her parents demands.

It’s the little things that start to make us realize there could be something between them. Walt is busy and comes across as cold but as Elizabeth spends more time with him, he starts to thaw. I loved that he pays attention and gives her what she wants but would never ask for. He really sees her and supports her passion.

A man who was, at the time, a great mystery shrouded in suits and severe expressions and curt conversations, but now the distance between the man I assumed Walt was and the man he’s turning out to be is starting to widen with every moment we spend together.
Worse, I’m starting to think I might actually like my husband.

It takes a while for these two to realize they have feelings for each other. There are definitely moments that were frustrating and a bit of OW drama but overall, it’s not over the top drama. It’s a slow burn romance that develops unexpectedly but realistically. There is a sweet epilogue that made my giddy, and I loved how everything came together.
