I was not looking for a date.
Another questionable relationship was the last thing I needed.
Because trust me, they were all questionable.
But through a series of unfortunate events involving my cat and
his poor decision-making skills, I agreed to a set-up.
Except… the set-up is with the governor.
I am not political girlfriend material.
For one, I’m a little bit crazy.
For two, I have secrets.
But I also have a big crush on the governor.

4 “You surprised me” stars!
Audrey is a designer who upcycles vintage clothing into gorgeous one-of-a-kind pieces. After catching the eye of Mrs. Bianchi because of her talent, Mrs. Bianchi thinks Audrey is the perfect person to date her son. Little does Audrey know that she’s about to go on a date with the governor, who happens to be her secret crush.
Dating isn’t easy for the governor when he doesn’t have time to really meet anyone; however, when Warren meets Audrey thanks to his mother, she fits the bill to be his plus one at events. She’s fun and knows how to hold her own even when she’s put on the spot, and they have a good time together – as friends.
When Warren discovers Audrey’s place has a major plumbing problem, he insists she move in with him until its fixed. With all the time they spend together living within the same space, their friendship has a chance to evolve into more…if they let it!
The Next Mrs. Russo is hilarious. Audrey is original, funny, and unapologetically awkward. Warren is the total opposite as he portrays a serious governor who rarely smiles. These two are fantastic together and I love their interactions. Warren’s level headedness and Audrey’s over-the-top antics make for so many entertaining moments. I love that Audrey says what’s on her mind even if it’s totally crazy, and Warren goes along with what she does because he genuinely enjoys her company.
“You’re insane,” he says, but he uses his hand to cover a smile. And to be fair, he’s not wrong.
“You’re into it though,” I reply, smiling back.
Because he is. He is so into my particular brand of crazy.
I would have loved to get into Warren’s head to really know what he was thinking when it came to Audrey. We get glimpses into his feelings with his smiles and glances, and I love that he accepts her for who she is but I want to hear his internal thoughts.
The secondary characters are great. I loved the super sweet interactions between Warren, Audrey, and Bethany, and I love love love Miller. I need his story!
The ending is wonderfully swoony, and I love how things play out when the conflict occurs. I enjoyed the lack of drama and I was either smiling or laughing the entire time I was reading. I loved it!
