A gorgeously emotional story with drama, intensity and a gorgeous, chemistry-filled romance. It’s a bit of a rollercoaster, but it’s beautifully written, and I loved it!

Willow is a city girl who followed her boyfriend to countryside Vermont and got stuck there when he up and left her behind with a mountain of debt. She’s trying to make the best of life as a chicken farmer, while planning to return to her ‘real’ life as soon as she can.

Dane ‘Danger’ Hollister is a professional skier who is in town temporary to train. He is one of the best in the business, and his reputation as a champion is well-earned, but he lives with a dark secret that threatens to destroy everything for him.

Willow and Dane meet when their cars almost collide and go skidding off the road in the midst of a blizzard. Stranded until help comes for them, they spend the night in Dane’s jeep, and end up having a fantastic time getting to know each other. They talk, banter and laugh, and they open up about their lives. One thing leads to another, and they end up sharing a steamy encounter that rocks their worlds.

It’s a great set-up for these two, and I could feel the connection between them. They both feel it too, and it’s unlike anything they’ve experienced before. It’s the setting for a gorgeous love story, but Dane insists that he’s not a relationship man. He was upfront about that from the start, he has his reasons, and they are valid, but it’s an emotional punch to the gut when he pushes Willow away. But in a delicious twist, when Dane is injured, he ends up staying in the apartment attached to Willow’s farmhouse, forcing the two of them into close proximity, and leading the way to an eventual showdown where secrets are revealed and Dane will finally be forced to confront his past.

I really enjoyed this book. I didn’t know where it was going, and I enjoyed the twists and turns in the story. There’s a lot of emotion as we get sucked into Dane and Willow’s lives, and Dane’s journey in particular really brings the feels. My heart ached for him, and though he has moments of supreme assholery, I could understand where he was coming from, and his growth and redemption as he finally dealt with his demons and then found his way forward were so beautifully written. The man can grovel like a champ, and when he puts his heart on the line… holy swoon!

There are some great side characters who bring a lot to the story, and I’m excited to read the next book of the series which features Willow’s best friend, Callie – she’s a firecracker!

I love these Dane and Willow together, and I loved the way their story unfolded.
