Ringing on the New Year by H. Hunting
4 stars!
I am so happy to be back with Lavender and Kody (from Little Lies) and the rest of the Kids of Pucked in this hilarious New Years rom com. When it comes to these characters, we get more of the laughs, the steam, the swoon, and the heart we have come to expect and love. Lavender and Kody’s relationship is fantastic and I love that they know exactly what they want and aren’t afraid the ask for it. They know when to have fun but also when to be real and this couple remains a fave!
This novella gives us more of Lavender’s twin, River, and the other kids who are grown now, and wonderful snippets of their lives. We see happiness surrounding River and mystery surrounding Maverick. We get BJ, Lacey, Lovey and everyone else that makes this group amazing. It’s short and sweet but it gives us just enough to remember why we love them all.
We even get cameos of Alex and Violet (from Pucked)and they are so funny and over the top when it comes to all things having to do with sex, especially the advice they give their children. The banana costumes even make an appearance and the whole situation is hilarious, too.
Butterfly, Broken (Crystal Lake Academy) by Ilsa Madden-Mills
4 stars!
Wow, this is a new side to Ilsa Madden-Mills and I like it. Though it’s just a novella, it’s jam packed with elements of a whole new world. There’s mystery and magic, dragons and vampires. And it’s just the start of what could be an entertaining fantasy series.
Everly attends Crystal Lake Academy but she doesn’t know how she got there. Her life has been hard especially after her mother died and her uncle and aunt took her in. She was treated horribly and now she finds herself in a completely new place. She doesn’t fit in but she’s there for a reason.
Rune is the head of his gang, known as the Dragons, and something about Everly gets under his skin. He wants nothing to do with her but when she comes for advice, he has to decide if he will help her or let her face her future alone.
Super intriguing and entertaining, I want more of this world and more of Rune. I want to know his history and learn about Everly and who she really is. It’s a fantastic experiment from this author and I hope she gives us more!
April Fools by Max Monroe
4 stars!
A hilarious, enemies-to-lovers featuring two teachers who both just want a quiet long weekend away but end up sharing a rental.
Mack is the music teacher and Katy is the calculus teacher at the same school. Their rooms are right next to each other so Katy has trouble teaching her students with all noise from Mack’s room interrupting her every single day. She is so ready to get away from all the noise and chaos from next-door so she heads to her beach rental for some peace and quiet over the long weekend. To bad the rental is double booked and who shows up? Mack.
This short story is hilarious. Neither Katy nor Mack want to lose out on the rental so the only option is for them both to stay. It’s has a great mix of laughs and steam, and I could actually picture things playing out just like they do. Mack gets under Katy’s skin and I love how he pushes her buttons. It’s written in dual POVs and I love that we not only get Katy’s side of the story but also how Mack is feeling. The way their feelings coming out is sweet and I loved seeing these two get together.
This story is a fantastic setup for a full-length novel and I want to explore their relationship further. Katy and Mack are so much fun and I want more!
Hello,
Do you have any idea where can I find the ASIN number of this book? Could you help me please with this information? I checked on Goodreads and the author’s website, but no information is available. Thank you so much!
Best regards,
Szilvia
Hi Szilvia,
This one was a limited-time release only, so it’s not available anymore. Some of the authors have released their stories independently though (eg. Sarina Bowen’s novella has been released as ‘Must Love Hockey’). If you’re after something in particular, try searching the particular author’s work.
Hope you can find what you’re looking for!
Love Tijan’s books!! Where can I find No Drama, Seriously?
Hi! This was a short-availability release only. It looks like Tijan hasn’t released her short story independently, but keep an eye out because sometimes authors do re-release these originally anthology-only shorts as a bonus for fans.
