They called him the grave digger—the man who dug up the darkest secrets of a person’s past.
Damian Blackstone didn’t care about my existence. He came into my world for one reason only. He came to find answers about his past.
He moved like the villain in my favorite fairytales. He wasn’t the one who received the happily ever afters; he was the one who destroyed them.
Which was why I couldn’t understand my step-father setting it up in his will for Damian and me to be married. If we didn’t wed, all of my family’s inheritance would be donated to charity.
I wasn’t certain I’d be able to live with a man like Damian, but make no mistake, he wasn’t the monster in this story. Damian danced with the darkness, but I submersed myself within it.
The longer he stuck around, the more complicated things became. Every family had its skeletons, and Damian came to dig up ours. When the truth came out, and the secrets were revealed, I was left wishing I’d never said, ‘I do.’
By that point, it was already too late.
I was tangoed in his darkness as he bathed within mine.

4.5 stars!
Western Waves is an arranged marriage, opposites attract romance and I couldn’t put it down. It is entertaining, emotional and captivating, and I loved it.
Stella was raised by her mom’s best friend, Kevin, after her mother passed away. She was like a daughter to him and was given a life full of love. After Kevin passes, she discovers at the reading of his will that he has a son named Damien and that Kevin has divided his assets between her and Damien. There is a catch though – if Stella and Damien are to inherit the estate and money, they must marry and live together for six months. At the end of six months, they can go their own ways with their half of the inheritance.
I love books with arranged marriages and couldn’t wait to see how this story played out. It’s unique, intriguing and so good. Stella wanted for nothing when she was raised by Kevin. Damien had the opposite life. While Stella got love from the father figure in her life, Damien got nothing from his actual father. They are not excited when they hear the stipulations to the will.
Stella and Damien couldn’t be more different. She’s full of light and he’s full of darkness. She feels so much and he hides his emotions. They get on either other’s nerves from the start but slowly the tension grows between them as they are forced into close proximity of one another. It’s a slower burn romance especially since Stella has a boyfriend for a big chunk of the story and I loved watching these two form a friendship.
I love that there is no crazy drama needed to make you feel everything in this book. It’s draws you in and doesn’t let you go. The feels I had when I read about Stella’s love for Kevin, her mother, and Maple warmed my heart. The sadness I felt for Damien crushed my soul. However, the two of them come together in such an unexpected way and together they heal. It’s not easy and there are definitely bumps in the road but I loved how Stella thawed Damien’s heart and Damien showed Stella the support she needed. love is strong and I fell hard for these two.
Though I really liked Stella, it was Damien who stole the show. He tries hard to hide that big heart of his but he can’t contain how good of a person he is when Stella is around. He’s caring and thoughtful. Even when they were just becoming friends and Stella had a boyfriend, he still put her first even though she wasn’t available. He built her up and helped her realize her worth.
Overall, Western Waves is another fantastic addition to the Compass series. Damien and Stella are wonderful and it is easy to get lost in their story. I also loved getting to see more of Connor and Aaliyah from Eastern Lights. I loved this book and I cannot wait for more of this series.
