He survived by always being in control.
She’s about to make him melt.
It’s 2004, and Daisy Rivera knows two things: she’s going to end up disappointing her parents’ fondest hopes and dreams in roughly six months, and somehow she’s going to figure out how to kiss the mysterious tattoo artist two shops down from her grandmother’s cafe that everyone calls Spider.
Spider Villalobos knows one thing: if he gives into temptation and makes a move on Daisy, his fresh start is over.
Their shops may be neighbors in Metlin, but their lives are worlds apart.

3.5 stars!
This is a great addition to the Love Stories on 7th and Main series by Elizabeth Hunter. It’s actually a prequel, set before the other books in the series, and is the story of locals Spider and Daisy, showing us how they got together all those years ago – but you can read it at any time, or as a standalone.
Daisy is a young girl with her whole life in front of her. Intelligent and driven, her parents have big plans for her to be the first in her family to attend college, and she certainly has the grades to get there. But what she really wants is to stay in her home town of Metlin and run the family café.
Spider is a talented tattoo artist who has only been in Metlin for a little while, but after running from a tragic past and desperate for a fresh start, he has finally found a place where he feels settled and welcome.
Daisy and Spider have been crushing on each other from afar, but she has been too shy to do anything about it, and he doesn’t want to drag her into his messy, possibly dangerous life. They could not be more different. But when they finally connect, they discover that they have more in common than they thought, and the attraction that they’ve ignored from afar proves way too hard to resist when they eventually get up close and personal.
This is such a gorgeous romance. Daisy and Spider are both fantastic characters who follow their hearts, despite the challenges they face, and I loved watching them come together! Daisy in particular is wonderful as the strong woman who refuses to let the man she cares for push her away, and though Spider may seem like a tough badass, he is the biggest sweetheart, and I love how he cares for Daisy.
They both have some pretty significant issues to deal with, and we get to watch them do just that, and I loved watching these two find their happy place together in Metlin. It’s made me want to go back and do a reread of the series, so I may do just that!
Cute read – 3.5 stars.
