This is a fun and sweet workplace friends-to-lovers story that features Clementine, the younger sister of Addie from the first book in the Willow Springs series, [book:Frayed|56141462]. It’s a short, standalone novella that made me laugh and swoon, and I loved it.

Clementine is an attorney who is about to make the biggest pitch of her life, but her day gets off to a bad start when she has a run in with an irritatingly gorgeous and cocky guy in a coffee shop, and ends up with coffee all down her shirt and running late with no caffeine. She arrives at work just in time for her presentation only to discover that the billionaire CEO she is pitching to is none other than the coffee shop guy.

Finn Bass has built his company from nothing, and he trusts his gut when it comes to hiring people, and when he’s looking for a chief legal counsel for his business, he’s got a feeling about Clementine and offers her the job. She’s instantly thrown into the deep end and whisked away on a business trip where their attraction flares to life. But Clementine is a relationship girl and Finn is strictly no-strings, so they decide to become friends, and immediately become a huge part of each other’s lives. It’s easy, natural and fun, and the inappropriate banter and flirting is freaking hilarious!

“I think you broke my dick” … “I think when you were grinding up against him, you teased him too much and now he can’t settle for anything less than being inside you.”
My jaw hung open. Was he for real? Who talks like that?
“Are you insane?”
“Possibly, and I blame you for it.”

It’s clear that they are developing feelings for each other, but Finn doesn’t think he’s able to go there. But a quick trip home and a taste of what life together could really be like has them questioning everything.

I was done for.
And I was tired of fighting it.
It was time to lay it all on the line.
I just didn’t quite know how to do that.
But I was damn sure going to figure it out.

This is a really fun read. Clem and Finn are fantastic characters – Clem is smart and sensible, and I love how she knows what she wants and follows her heart, and Finn made me laugh so much with his demanding bossiness and lack of filter. He’s all alpha, but he’s got a huge heart, and I loved watching him come to realise that.

It’s sweet, funny, sexy and playful with fantastic chemistry and banter, and I loved it.

4 stars.
