Review

An action-packed starter to the Sin Brothers series – full of romance, sex, intrigue, a bunch of super hot alphas and all-round badassery. How could I not love it?

The book starts with Josie visiting her husband in hospital. Not an unusual situation, except that Josie hasn’t seen Shane for two years after he up and left her after a whirlwind romance and three months of marriage. He has woken in the hospital after taking a baseball bat to the head and suffering from amnesia. He has no clue who she is, let alone what he has been doing for the last two years.

Josie was left devastated and broken hearted when Shane left her, and she’s not over him. And even though she is determined to move on with her plans to divorce him in an effort to move on with her life, she ends up taking Shane home with her until he gets some sort of memory back.

Being in close proximity to each other, they both realise that there is still incredible chemistry between them, and as much as Josie may try to fight it, the love and desire between them is still very much present.

“I may not know myself right now, sweetheart. But I know I wouldn’t have let you go.” No way was he that fucking stupid.

But it soon becomes very clear that their relationship is full of secrets, and always has been. And when dead bodies show up in the exact location where Shane was found, it only provokes more questions.

“I need your trust, angel. You’re all I’ve got.”

Although he loved Josie madly, the old Shane blocked her out, he thought she was delicate, and was determined to protect her. He put her on a pedestal, not wanting to expose her to the dangers of his life, and it frustrated the hell out of her. He’s now rougher, more dangerous, and less controlled (mainly in the bedroom *fans self*), and she’s starting to see more of him than she ever has before.

“I love you, angel. It’s the one thing I remember without a doubt … I’m not letting you go.”

And Josie is right by Shane’s side as his memory starts returning and he shares with her the secrets of his past. And slowly they both unravel the enigma of Shane – his childhood, his seemingly supernatural abilities, and his equally kickass brothers. The introduction of Shane’s brothers Matt and Nathan into the story brings a whole new level of awesome – not only are they able to shed light on more of Nathan’s past, but with the added banter, protectiveness, and the overwhelming badassery, the three boys together are absolutely sensational!

While this is all going on, they are still trying to unravel the mystery of why Shane left. As well as how he ended up in the town she fled to after he left her, where he has been for two years, and who is behind a series of attacks on the both of them.

And all the while, they are rediscovering their love for each other, and the passion between them is fantastic. Shane’s alpha and controlling nature follows him into the bedroom giving us some sensational steamy time, and he is full of swoony talk as he opens his heart to Josie and shows her how determined he is never to let her go again.

“We are married.”
“We’re about to get divorced.”…
“No.” He licked up her ear to bite the shell.
She shivered in response. “Yes.”
“Nope.” His palm spread out across her bare midriff. “I may have screwed up, and we’ll find out why, but I won’t hurt you again. You’re mine, angel. The only thing in life that matters.”

The story twists and turns all over the place with multiple threads running through the book, bringing lots of kickass action scenes, lots of mystery and intrigue, and plenty of opportunities not only for Shane to go all badass, but for Josie to prove just how strong she actually is, and I loved the way she handled her situation. No stupid heroines here!

I love Josie and Shane, and I absolutely love them together! Despite their murky background, they stood strong together, determined to defend and protect each other, and they were both incredibly honest with each other. They have a lot to overcome, and face more complications that either of them ever realised, and I loved their journey.

The foundations are laid for future books in the series as the brothers continue to battle against the evil of their past, and fight for their future, and I’m really excited to see what happens next.

I loved it – 4.5 stars.
