Book #3 in the Pittsburgh Titans series, this is a sweet, heartfelt, and angst-free romance for NHL veteran, Gage Heyward.

Gage came out of retirement to help the Pittsburgh Titans NHL team get back on their feet after a tragic plane crashed saw them lose almost their entire roster. He’s a natural leader, and is becoming the glue that holds his team together, and he’s enjoying pulling his skates on and helping to guide his a new team.

Jenna has just moved to Pittsburgh to take up a job as media liaison with the Titans. She’s been through a traumatic few years and has been left physically and emotionally scarred, and she’s very shy and withdrawn as a result. So when Gage shows her attention, she’s a little slow to catch on, thinking he’s just being polite, but he’s smitten at first glance, and makes it his mission to win her trust and her heart.

This is a really sweet romance, and Gage is the perfect guy for Jenna. He’s kind, understanding and caring, and he works hard to woo her, and it’s so cute to watch! Jenna’s reservations are completely understandable, but Gage slowly and patiently chips away at her walls, encouraging and supporting her to step out and start living again, and we get to see all of that as they willing, happily and openly fall hard for each other.

While the romance is unfolding, there’s a lot going on with the Titans, and I really liked the progression of the overall team storyline. There’s great build-up for Coen’s books next

While it’s a really sweet read, I found it to be a bit bland. I do love a good, functional romance, but I think I need a bit more ‘oomph’ in my stories. It’s still a good read, and I am definitely excited to continue on with the series.

3 stars.
