Release & ARC Review: Jasper Vale (The Edens, #4) by Devney Perry

Jasper Vale, the fourth book in The Edens series by Devney Perry is live!

What a fantastic read! A sexy, emotional, and gorgeously romantic story with an accidental marriage, a fake relationship, a strong heroine, an irresistibly grumpy hero, all the heat and all the feels. I loved it!

Eloise Eden’s pride and joy is her family’s hotel in Quincy, Montana. Her lifelong dream is to own The Eloise Inn. All she has to do is prove to her parents that she’s the epitome of responsible. That her days of being duped and making reckless decisions are history. She’s so close she can taste it.

Until after one weekend in Las Vegas, she comes home married to a stranger.

Jasper must have put her under a spell with those soul-deep eyes because after a single night together, they woke up husband and wife. Her only hope is to keep this marriage a secret until it’s annulled. Then she’ll pretend it never happened.

Except Jasper begs her to stay married. To fake it for three months so she can accompany him to a wedding. Maybe she’s lost her mind to agree. But her brooding husband seems desperate. It’s only three months, right? Then she’ll say goodbye to Jasper Vale, and with any luck, hello to her new hotel.

5 stars!

Oh, what a fantastic read! A sexy, emotional, and gorgeously romantic story with an accidental marriage, a fake relationship, a strong heroine, an irresistibly grumpy hero, all the heat and all the feels. I loved this one!

This is the fourth book in The Edens series, but like the earlier books, it can be read as a standalone. This is Eloise Eden’s story. She manages the family hotel in the small town of Quincy, Montana, and it’s her dream to one day take over ownership from her parents. A badly managed situation in the past left them hesitant to hand it over to her, and she’s been working hard ever since to prove herself as reliable and responsible. But that plan hits a snag when a trip to Las Vegas ends with a drunken wedding to Jasper Vale

Jasper was introduced in the last book of the series as the coach to professional fighter, Foster, who is Eloise’s future brother-in-law. He’s a broody, mostly solitary guy who is temporarily living in Quincy while training and figuring out where life will take him next. A toxic relationship in his past has defined so much of his life, leaving him understandably not interested in anything beyond casual hook ups, and that has worked well for him. And then along came Eloise.

The morning after their drunken nuptials and a night of smoking hot sex, they both realise that they’ve made a horrible mistake, and they are both keen to get an annulment, put it behind them and completely forget about it. Except, it doesn’t quite work out like that. And when the secret gets out, they realise that pretending the marriage wasn’t a mistake will work out for both of them – Eloise proves that she’s responsibly married and making her relationship work, and Jasper can use his marriage to help him out of a tricky situation with his family and his ex-girlfriend. So married they stay, for a defined time only before they go their separate ways… And we all know how that’s going to work out!!

It’s a fantastic set up, and sparks are flying from the moment we see Jasper and Eloise together. Their chemistry is electric, and though neither them want a relationship, let alone a marriage, their attraction is intense! And, as it turns out, completely irresistible, and their fake marriage very quickly becomes a fake marriage-with-benefits, as they can’t keep their hands – or any other body parts – off each other.

It’s hot, steamy, and a little bit filthy, and OMG, I was here for it! I loved the connection between Jasper and Eloise. It’s mostly friendly, but a little bit snarky, and always sizzling with an undercurrent of more. Living together as husband and wife, Eloise is keen to get to know her husband, but the man is hard to crack. But slowly and surely, things starts to shift, and I loved every moment of it!

I’d missed her.
I wasn’t supposed to miss her.

It’s not easy, and there’s a bit of back and forth between them, but it makes sense to the story, and to Jasper and Eloise as characters. And the difficulties make every step forward that must more satisfying and exciting.

Fuck, but I was tired. Tired of holding up my hand, keeping her at a distance. Tired of pretending that sex between us was our only connection.

Oh, Jasper Vale. I inevitably always fall for Devney Perry’s heroes, but it’s always the grumpy ones that make me fall the hardest, and Jasper Vale owned my heart! He has had a difficult past and is closed off because of it, so watching this big tough guy start to open up to Eloise, fall under her spell, and allow himself to actually feel something for her is absolutely gorgeous!

Eloise Eden was mine.
And I was hers.
Until the end.

And Eloise is a powerhouse! She’s strong, feisty and determined, and I love how she handled Jasper, his moods, and their complicated situation.  She goes toe to toe with him, and doesn’t let him walk all over her, and I absolutely loved her!

But they have a lot to work through in order to get their happy ending. There is drama in both of their personal lives which they have to navigate, and some family issues they need to deal with, and there’s even a touch of suspense which had my heart pounding. But it all combines beautifully to create a rich and emotional story for the two of them, and I could not get enough.

I adored this book. I loved the characters, the setting, and the passionate, heartfelt story. It’s beautifully written, and I felt so much while reading, and it’s my favourite of the series so far.
