Release & ARC Review: Overtime (Seattle Phantom Football, #2) by Maggie Rawdon

Overtime by Maggie Rawdon is live!

A fun, flirty, wildly sexy, almost-second-chance, enemies-to-lovers sports romance, this book is chock-full of fabulous tropes, and it’s such an enjoyable read!

Colton St. George is the league’s star quarterback, the most eligible bachelor in the country, and the poster boy for “nice guy”.

Everyone wants a piece of him.

Including me—because I need him in front of my camera to raise money for charity.

There’s just one problem.

Before he was famous, I took his already broken heart and shattered it.

So he only agrees to do the photos on one condition—I go first.

In his home, at his discretion.

And in private? He isn’t quite the good guy I remember.

Before I know what’s happening we’re unraveling in a game of favors and bets.

One I’m not sure either of us can win.

A fun, flirty, wildly sexy, almost-second-chance, enemies-to-lovers sports romance, this book is chock-full of fabulous tropes, and it’s such an enjoyable read!

This is the second book in the Seattle Phantom Football series, and though there is some character crossover between the first book in this series, and books in Rawdon’s previous series, Plays & Penalties, you can read this one as a standalone.

Joss is the best friend of Violet, and we first met her in Reverse Pass (Plays & Penalties, #4). She’s bold, flirtatious and completely filterless, and she loves her wild and free life travelling as a freelance photographer. She’s taking a break between jobs to visit Violet and her NFL star husband, Ben in Seattle, and her trip gets all kinds of awkward when she’s also reunited with Ben’s best friend, Colton, who is her ex-hook-up.

Colton is the star quarterback for the Seattle Phantom, and he is the golden boy of the league, with a reputation for being a good guy on and off the field. He’s quiet and reserved, and a total sweetheart! Joss and Colton have history from college, where she, as an older woman, took the young, virginal and recently broken-hearted Colton under her wing and became his sexual mentor, teaching him all the tricks and having a marvellous time doing it. It ended when Colton fell for Joss and she, being completely allergic to relationships and feelings, ran. They haven’t seen each other since, and they don’t particularly want to see each other now, but they’re suddenly back in each other’s worlds, and it’s clear that the chemistry is still strong.

She’d ruined me for most other women. I’m still hopeful I could find one. One who could make my heart beat this fast. Make my cock this hard. I didn’t hurt for options, but so far, she’s it.

They don’t hide from it, they both admit that their mad lust for each other is still there, but they both recognise the complicated feelings that exist between them, so they agree to just ignore it. Except they can’t, and they end up in this weird game of sexual chicken, not wanting to be the one who breaks, but baiting the other to crack first. It’s entertaining, and so damn smutty, and I loved watching it all unfold.

I want this man to wreck me. Take me and have his way with me any way he wants, however and whenever that is.

Colton may be a good guy, but Joss taught him to be all kinds of dirty, and in their time apart, he’s grown in confidence. Though she was once the one in control – not any longer.

“I’d do anything for you…So you can have the obedient boy you remember, or you can have the man you wants to fuck you how you deserve. But you have to choose.” … “Just know either way, for the rest of the time you’re here – you’re mine.”

Luckily, Joss is there for it, and when the tension snaps, it’s freaking on!

“This new version of you…the bossy-in-charge one. I think I might like it.”
“You might need it.”

Oh my God, these two are so freaking hot together! But while the sexy time is easy, natural and off the charts intense, things are more complicated emotionally. Though Colton is cautious, his feelings are right out there, but Joss is more complex. She lives her life untethered, and she’s legitimately fearful. They have a bit to figure out, but it’s a great journey watching them do that.

I need this woman like I need air. She’s mine now and always. I just have to make her see it.

This is a fun read, with just the right amount of emotion, and I loved seeing Colton and Joss get their happy ending.

Loved it – 4 stars.

About the Author

Maggie loves books, travel and wandering through museums. She lives in the Midwest where you can find her writing on her laptop with her two pups at her side, in between binge watching epic historical and fantasy dramas and cheering for her favorite American (and European) football teams on the weekends. She loves writing dirty athletes and smart women and has a soft spot for writing characters who banter instead of flirt.
