Blurb
The residents of Riot House have graduated, but the events of the past year are far from forgotten. Life might be pulling the former students of Wolf Hall Academy in opposite directions, but no distance on Earth can sever the ties that bind them.
JACOBI
I craved her.
I wanted to hurt her, to cause her harm. Instead, she healed me. Smoothed out the hurts of the past. Stole my soul so elegantly that I didn’t even notice her taking it. Now, Elodie Stillwater is all that matters. I’ll f@#k!ng die before I let him ruin our shot at happiness…
DASH
I lied to her.
I needed to protect her. But now that Carina is safe, I’m so done fighting this. We were made to be together. Our new life in England is picture-perfect, but somehow Seattle keeps drawing us back. Carrie’s guardian can plot and scheme all he wants; it’ll be a cold day in hell before I get pulled into his criminal underworld…
PAX
I hated her.
I saved her life and then regretted it. How could such a timid little redhead be so goddamn addicting? How the hell did she manage to work her way so deep beneath my skin? She brought me to my knees. Made me fall so deep that the descent damn killed me. And now she’s keeping secrets? She’s a fool if she thinks I’ll let her slip away that easily…Riot Reunion is a full-length novel told from multiple perspectives and contains dark, violent, and graphic themes that some readers may find triggering.
Review
5 stars!
Callie Hart has delivered a wonderful treat for her fans – revisiting her Crooked Sinners world with a story reuniting these amazing and much-loved characters, and I loved diving back into this series. (A quick note – This book is a direct follow on from events in the earlier books, so I would not recommend reading it as a standalone).
The stories of Wren & Elodie, Dash & Carrie, and Pax & Presley are absolute faves, and this book is written in alternating POVs, giving us the perspective of all six of the characters as they move on to the next stage of their lives post high school. They all have plans, and they’re all embracing the changes that are coming, taking big steps towards independence and reaching their dreams. But when their friends need them, they drop everything to reunite, rallying together to support and be there for each other. And when a threat from the past resurfaces, they’ll fight like hell to protect and defend each other.
I have so much love for these characters, and loved the chance to spend more time with them. It’s a bit of a mixed bag for their stories, bringing excitement, happiness, unexpected drama, heartache and emotion, and I loved it all. Life is hard, and we’re sometimes forced to deal with really tough situations, and I loved that we got to see these characters face their challenges, not always handling it well, but figuring it all out along the way. It’s not happy times, but there is never any doubting the love that each of these couples have for each other (or their mad passion for each other, because damn, this book is steamy!), and I loved that we got to see that over and over again.
I can barely contain all of the things she makes me feel inside myself. At any moment, I might crack open and the madness of my affection for her will blast out of me like rays of blinding light.
She’s everything.
We spend time with each of the couples together, which I loved, there’s also time with the boys, time with the girls, and time with the whole crew together. The dynamics are absolutely fantastic, and I loved being back with this group, in whatever way we get them.
“We’re fated, you and me. Your heart is mine to cherish. Your body is mine to worship. Your soul is mine to keep.”
Things climax of the story brings intensity and had my heart pounding, and it also brings the feels. I was madly flipping pages towards the end there, my heart broke for what they go through and I even shed a few tears. But wow, what a ride.
“Sometimes the path of least resistance isn’t a straight line. It’s the way home.”
There’s even a fun tie-in to the Blood & Roses world, and the chance to catch up with beloved characters from that series, which was a bonus.
This is a 5-star read for sure, but I still wish we got a little bit more. Though I loved the story and loved where the couples ended up, it still felt a bit unfinished for me. I needed just a glimpse of where our couples end up. Am I greedy? Perhaps. But I can still want it. There is an epilogue which hints that we may see more of them in the future, and I’m hanging out for that.
A must-read for Crooked Sinners fans. 5 stars!
