Release & ARC Review: Sable Peak (The Edens, #6) by Devney Perry

Sable Peak by Devney Perry is live!

The final book in The Edens series, this is a friends-to-lovers, unrequired love, single dad romance. It’s emotional and dramatic, and beautifully, swoonily romantic, and I loved it so much.

Vera Gallagher is chasing constant. For four years, her life was anything but normal. And the years before that she refuses to even remember. Dwelling on the past only hurts. Life is fragile, a lesson her mother taught her well. She’s determined not to waste a moment of her newfound freedom.

Maybe some would consider her crush on Mateo Eden wasted time. Maybe some would call her a fool for loving a man who hasn’t once dropped a crumb of interest her way. Still, to Vera, it’s Mateo or nothing.

He’s handsome. Charming. Witty. And he loves his family the way Vera loves—with her whole heart.

Maybe he’ll never notice her. Maybe she’s too damaged, too broken, to find that normal life she craves. Maybe her secrets will always keep them apart. But Vera will love him anyway. Whether Mateo realizes it or not.

An unrequited love, small town romance.

The final book in The Edens series, this is a friends-to-lovers, unrequired love, single dad romance. It’s emotional and dramatic, and beautifully, swoonily romantic, and I loved it so much.

Readers of the series will remember Vera – she was found living in the woods with her father during the events of Crimson River (Vance & Lyla’s book). She’s now been brought back into civilisation, straight into the arms of the Eden family, and she’s trying hard to figure out who she is after four difficult years of isolation, and the devastating tragedy that upended her life in the first place. She has found nothing but acceptance from the Edens, but it’s Mateo who owns her heart. Smitten from the moment she saw him, she has loved him from afar for years, but she’s kept it to herself, too shy to do anything about it, until one night changes everything.

Mateo is a pilot who has recently returned to his small home town in Montana. His whole world shifted when he learned that he was a father to a newborn baby girl, and since that moment he has been a devoted dad to little Allie, and he has created a loving and stable home for her around his family. But he’s still trying to figure out what he wants to do with his life. Like his parents and siblings, he has welcomed Vera into the family, and his life is shaken again when he suddenly starts to see her in a different light.

“I see you, Vera.”

It’s beautiful and emotional, and I love the way this story played out. Showing us the ‘before’ and ‘after’, we get to see Vera and Mateo’s friendship, her bond with little Allie, and the dynamics between them, and the rest of the family. My heart was pounding as things started to change (so many feels!), and I thought it was realistic, heartfelt and so, so sweet. The relationship develops beautifully, and I loved watching Vera and Mateo come together.

We weren’t exactly new, not in a lot of ways. Vera had been a part of my life for years. A part of Allie’s too.
We were just starting down a different path.
And there was no looking back.

Vera has been through so much, and I loved seeing her find somebody that she could trust as she unpacked her trauma and dealt with her past. Mateo is absolutely magic as the loving and supportive partner that she needs, there for her in all the ways and becoming a rock for her as she slowly finds the courage to open up to him completely and figure out her life. She supports him right back, encouraging him to chase his dreams, and I loved them together so much. Little Allie is a big part of the story, I loved her and the relationships she had with both her Dad and with Vera. It was so beautiful watching them form such a solid couple

“It’s you. You are her family. You are hers … And you’re mine. We are your family.”

The romance is sweet, passionate, and oh-so-hot, and their moments together had me either smiling or swooning. It’s a gorgeous love story that is functional and angst-free and it brings all the feels.

“I love you … I fucking love you. I won’t leave you. And I won’t let you go.”

The rest of the Eden clan are a big part of the story, of course. This is a close-knit bunch, I loved seeing them all happy and together, and there’s an epilogue which finishes off the story – and the series – beautifully.

This book is great read that kept me captivated from start to finish, and these characters owned my heart.

5 stars.
