Release & ARC Review: Where We Belong (Stone Riders MC, #2) by Ashley Munoz

Where We Belong by Ashley Munoz is live!

The second book in the Stone Riders MC series, this is an angsty and emotional enemies-to-lovers romance. Set within the world of a 1% motorcycle club – though definitely not as dark as some MC books I’ve read – I was sucked right into this story, and I loved this one!

They call him the Wolf.

His club, his brothers, and even my best friend Callie.

I didn’t really care what they called him, not when the only name I had ever called him was, coward.

Because three months ago he snuck under my resilient heart, like the thief he is, and stole it.

Then he broke it.

Going home wasn’t an option, not when I promised Callie I’d stay. She swore I’d eventually feel like I belonged in this small town.

The club ensured I had a job, and a place to live which reluctantly earned my loyalty.

Until I discovered their little caveat.

The apartment technically belonged to the new president.

I was welcome to stay…as long as I understood it meant sharing.

And my new roommate?

The very man who turned avoidance into an Olympic sport.

The second book in the Stone Riders MC series, this is an angsty and emotional enemies-to-lovers romance that follows on from the fabulous Where We Started. Set within the world of a 1% motorcycle club – though definitely not as dark as some MC books I’ve read – I was sucked right into this story, and I loved this one!

Killian and Laura’s story was hinted at in the first book of the series. This book picks up where the last one left off, and there’s quite a bit of backstory for this couple and the club, as well as huge spoilers for the events of the first book, so please make sure you read these books in order. And beware this review does have some spoilers for the first book in the series.

Killian was raised to be the President of the Stone Raiders, and he’s finally stepped into the role. It’s what he’s always dreamed of, and he’s determined not to let anything distract him – especially not a fiery blonde who riles him like no other. Laura is the best friend of Callie (heroine of Where We Started and pseudo-sister to Killian). Three months ago, Killian and Laura shared some profound moments while she temporarily was in town. Now, she’s back, working at the MC and living in the apartment that is meant to belong to the President, and she’s stuck in a weird situation with Killian, who is giving off some very mixed messages.

The situation between these two is a hot mess. The history of what went down between them in the past, and what drove Laura away, is revealed slowly throughout the book, so we spend a lot of time watching their back and forth and wondering what the hell happened and why they’re so chaotic.

Fuck, I hated how we always seemed to fall into this role right here. I would be a prick, she would fight back, I’d get hard and want her to lower her walls, but she’d just throw up a middle finger, and we’d be in a fight. I’d never met anyone like her.

There’s no denying the chemistry between them. They obviously want each other badly, and the lusty vibes are strong! There are also definitely strong feelings there, but Killian keeps his distance, determined to focus on his club, while at the same time being obsessively protective over Laura (serious “touch her and die” vibes), and his reluctance to let her in breaks her heart over and over. It’s angsty, but I could understand where both of them were coming from, and my heart ached for both of them.

“I’m not afraid of falling, Daisy. I’m afraid of who I’ll become if I lose that part of myself to you. Because it’s all or nothing. I’d keep nothing of myself for me. You’d own it all.”

With all of this stubborn assholery, Killian is a softie underneath. He obviously cares deeply for Laura, and we see that caring side of him over and over again in beautiful little moments and impassioned declarations that had the romance lover in me swooning.

“I want you to stop being a complication … But…I also want to wrap your soul around mine, feel the beat of your heart in my neck as I breathe, and carry you with me everyone I go, all at the same fucking time.”

Their situation grows even more tense when Killian decides to take rightful ownership of the club’s apartment where Callie is staying, and they become roommates. It puts them all up in each other’s space, and sparks fly as they are forced to confront everything that’s happening between them, and oh holy hell, it’s so freaking hot! Killian is a dirty talker and a little bit kinky, and the sexy time is off the charts steamy. And with them finally giving in to it all, the romance that develops between them is so, so gorgeous. It’s intense and all-consuming, and surprisingly swoony, and they are such a great match. Laura is fierce, brave and stubborn, just the type of woman that Killian needs. And in return, he gives her the love, peace and sense of home that she’s never experienced. They are a power couple in all the ways, and I loved seeing them together.

“You’re mine now, beautiful thing. All mine. I’ll share you with the sun, your parents, and I guess the audience you sing to, but that’s it.”

“You belong and forever will be in here.” He moved my hand over his heart. “No matter where we go or what we do. You’re it for me.”

In the meantime, trouble is brewing for the MC. The townsfolk have decided they don’t want the club in their town, and are doing what they can to push them out, rival MCs are starting to make big threats, and there are dangers brewing closer to home for Killian and Laura. There’s a lot going on and all of the different elements of the story are balanced nicely, bringing depth to the world and the characters, leading in to more books going forward. I cannot wait to explore those stories!

I really enjoyed this book. It’s dramatic, emotional and sexy, with great characters, all set within an exciting and rapidly developing world.

It was hard fought for, and an angsty rollercoaster, but Killian and Laura’s love story is absolutely gorgeous, and I revelled in the intensity of it all.

I loved it – 4.5 stars!
