Fake engagement. Real marriage. Both have an expiration date…
“Marry me.”
They were the last words I expected to say to my fake fiancé, but I’m the kind of guy who doesn’t back down from a challenge.
Pretend I’m engaged to my gorgeous and talented business partner to secure a business deal?
No problem.
Agree to a no-touch rule even though she’s been driving me wild since I met her?
Challenge accepted.
Resist grinning like a damn fool every time that same big-hearted, sunshine-y woman laughs with my little daughter?
Done.
So, yeah, when my fake fiancé’s vindictive business rival threatens to expose our make-believe romance, I can handle that too.
I’ll prove our engagement isn’t fake – by marrying her for real.
A marriage with an expiration date at the end of the year.
But that’s when I run smack dab into the biggest challenge ever – not falling madly in love with my wife.
Tropes: Single dad, fake engagement, marriage of convenience, my wife, found family, workplace romance, spicy rom com, he falls first.

4.5 “It had to be you” stars!
Omg, this is such a sweet, adorable read. It still has all of the humor and heat we love from this author but it also had so many smile inducing, and warm and fuzzy moments, I couldn’t put it down.
Elodie meets Gage at a bar but leaves before they can exchange numbers. After a hilarious moment brings them back together, they hit it off and go on an amazing date. However, just as they are getting into the late night fun, their date is cut short. Looking to go out again, they meet back up but when a business idea presents itself, they can’t turn it down and they know they shouldn’t risk their venture but getting romantically involved.
The Almost Romantic is one of those books that just made me happy while reading. Elodie and Gage start off pretending to be dating, which quickly turns into an engagement, and then they almost immediately elope due to unforeseen circumstances. It’s a whirlwind fake romance and every moment together brings them closer to the truth – that it may not be fake after all.
When I’m with Elodie, I don’t feel like I’m faking a thing. With her I don’t feel like I’m constantly racing toward the future. I feel like I’m living in the moment, and each moment with her is the only place I want to be.
My heart was smiling the whole book. I adore Elodie and Gage and I just lovedeverything about them. As individuals to being a couple, and even pretending to be a family, these two are amazing. Gage is a wonderful father and Elodie is so good at raising her younger sister. I enjoyed their interactions as parents and though they aren’t perfect, they do everything for those girls, including not keeping things from them. It made the whole fake relationship work better because the girls were in on it, too.
There were definitely sexy times but they didn’t over power the story. I loved the fake dates that turned into real dates and how they were honest about their feelings and what mattered to them. I loved experiencing Elodie and Gage getting to know each other as well as having the girls be a big part of the process.
This book had such a great group of characters! Along with Elodie, Gage, and the girls, Grams was a wonderful addition as well as Felix. I also loved that there were other friends we met from other books who make cameos.
Overall, The Almost Romantic is a perfect addition to the How to Date series. I loved the book and I love the series!
