Juliet and Monroe co-host a podcast called Heartbreakers and Matchmakers. They’ve known each other for years and even had a summer fling but currently they are just friends.

Monroe is good at understanding people because of his psychology background and Juliet keeps picking the wrong guys according to Monroe. Her first dates never turn into anything more.

When a long time listener gifts the two of them a cottage for helping her find the one, they have have to spend some time cleaning it out and deciding what to do with it. Staying in the house together puts them in close quarters and when Juliet decides to accept dating help from Monroe, these two couldn’t imagine how things would play out.

I adored Juliet and Monroe. Eight years ago, they had a fling that could have become more if the timing was right. However, after a wonderful week they went different directions and never crossed the line again. They both think of that week and realize that maybe they were each others one that got away but have never decided to act on their feeling because they have a good thing going with their podcast.

I loved the banter and friendship they shared. Monroe is Juliet’s brothers best friend so he’s been in her life for a while, and though he didn’t want her to actually pick someone else, he did want her to be happy. Monroe acts as a dating coach since she’s been unlucky in love but their dates are so much more than just trial runs for someone else. Monroe and Juliet have a connection and understand each other. They have fun together and definitely have chemistry.

I loved the dates they went on and the part the cottage and long time fan played in their love story. It took them a little longer to figure out what everyone else knew – that they were meant to be, but the wait was worth it.

Overall, I really enjoyed this story. Sweet, swoony and spicy, it is a fantastic addition to the How to Date series!

Keeping the one you love is all about the work, and the heart and the soul you put into it.
