Blurb

I met West Haven when I was eight years old. He taught me to play poker when I was nine, and we made paper airplanes together when I was eleven. He kissed me when I was sixteen. He was the best part about my family’s summer vacations to Montana. He was the boy who stole my heart. I was twenty-three when life ripped us apart.

Years later, I’m breaking my vow and returning to the ranch, not as a guest but its new owner. West might want me gone, but even he has to admit the only way to save his family’s legacy is with my help.

It’s not easy working side by side and facing those old memories. But this situation is only temporary. We’re at a crossroads. And as long as I don’t let myself fall in love with West Haven again, maybe this is our chance to put those ghosts to rest. Maybe this time we’ll finally be able to say goodbye.

A new series from Devney Perry, and I was in romantic heaven with this one! A chemistry-filled, second-chance romance with drama, emotion and the most beautiful love story as childhood loves are reunited in difficult circumstances in small town Montana.

Indya and West met as children when her wealthy family holidayed at his family’s resort/ranch in Montana. For one week every year or two, they were constantly by each other’s sides, and as teenagers they fell hard for each other. They never had the opportunity for a real relationship though, and with broken hearts in their 20s, they both moved on with their lives.

It’s years later when Indya returns to Montana as the new owner of the ranch. West is devastated that his family legacy has been sold out from under him, especially to the girl who once owned his heart, so we get this delicious love/hate thing happening with lots of snark and anger, while secretly they are all torn up inside to be together again, and the sexual tension between them is hotter than ever before. It’s so freaking good!

When Indya Keller was in Montana, she was mine.
Even when she wasn’t.

As Indya gets to work fixing up the run down resort, West realises that he has no choice but to support her if he wants to stay on his land. He slowly lowly starts to see the positive change that she is bringing, and he reluctantly agrees to work with her. And the more time they spend together, the more their lifelong attraction sizzles. Their past is murky, and they’ve got a lot they need to talk about, but their connection proves to be irresistible.

I knew her heart. I knew her laugh. I knew her shrugs and the way she looked every time she was fighting tears. But that wasn’t enough Not anymore.
“It bothers me that I know you, Indy. And I don’t.”

The romance is a slow burn, and the build-up is sensational. There’s lots of protective/possessive moments, the sexy time is hot and intense, and the emotion between these two is absolutely beautiful. I was with them every step of the way as they find their way back to each other, finally opening up about their pasts, their lives, and their feelings, and I loved watching them find their way to a much-deserved happy ending together.

“Is this real?”
“We’ve always been real, Indy.” He leaned back, taking my face in his hands. “I’ll prove it to you tonight. And every night, for the rest of your life.”

The story of their past is told in flashback, and with so many secrets between them I was constantly guessing at all that had happened – both between them, and while they were apart – to get them to where they are at. And Perry does a fantastic job of revealing things at just the right moment for maximum impact.

On a side note – as a fan of HGTV renovation shows, I loved being on board with Indya as she gets to work fixing up the run-down resort. It’s just enough to paint a picture without detracting from the character’s stories, and I loved the resort, the ups and downs with the staff, and the whole setting for the story.

There are some complex family dynamics in this one, and amidst it all we are introduced to West’s younger brother, Jax, and I’m so looking forward to his story up next.

I loved losing myself in this book, and I loved West and Indya’s story so much.

5 stars!
